Chalet Alys lies in the charming mountain village of Abondance and consists of 4 bedrooms on two floors sleeping 8 people. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with under floor heating. Chalet Alys is situated a 1 minute walk from the centre of this traditional French village with shops, bars, restaurants and a year round Sunday market. The Abondance ski cable car is 900 meters from the chalet by foot or bus. Access to 650km of Portes du Soleil skiing is 5 km away at La Chapelle D’Abondance or 13km at Chatel.

Chalet Alys has a contemporary mountain style with an open fire, timbered walls and floors and stylish décor and facilities. It is spacious and comfortable at 162 m2 and ideal for groups of friends and family. A large kitchen and a spacious lounge await you where your friends and family will gather to discuss the day’s events. The kitchen is contemporary and light and hosts a rangemaster oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and island. A comfy sofa provides an area to relax and chat to the cook/s over a coffee or a glass of wine. In one direction a door leads to the lounge and dining area with its generous seating and open fireplace.

Over the past couple of years, several of our guests have undertaken some home working and the lounge has a desk and office chair. A second office area is available upstairs. Fibre broadband WiFi is available through the chalet.

The lounge hosts a large dining table for 10, an open fire, and plenty of comfortable seating. A TV is available in the lounge. In summer the lounge doors are thrown open to the sunny garden. A staircase off the lounge leads to double mezzanine bedroom with en-suite bathroom. A second door in the kitchen leads to a ground floor double/twin bedroom with its own bathroom with bath and shower. There is also separate toilet and a door to the boot room. The boot room hides away clutter and dries the outdoor layers, skis and boots in winter. A staircase from the kitchen leads to the second floor with a light and spacious open plan desk area for a bit of home working or catching up on emails. The terrace bedroom has a double bed and a contemporary en-suite bathroom with bath. The fourth bedroom is a twin/double en-suite with mountain views. Both rooms are spacious and light. Wooden shutters keep out the winter cold and the sun light after dark. The Chalet has both front and rear balconies which capture the sunrises and the sunsets. The rear balconies on both floors are ideal breakfast terraces in summer. Imagine a 1 min walk in the crisp and sunny mountain air to the Boulangerie where you can pick up your freshly baked croissants and bread to enjoy on the breakfast terrace in the morning sun. Both balconies have benches and tables for this purpose. The garden is flat and has outdoor rattan furniture and Alpine flora and lawn. For guests with specific mobility needs, Chalet Alys is on two floors although it has a ground floor double/twin bedroom with its own bathroom on one level including a large shower with room for a stool. The entrance to the Chalet front door does not have steps although there is a single step from the road/drive/garden up to the Chalet's outdoor paved area. The kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and boot room are on the same level. There is 1 step from the kitchen into the lounge/dining area.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Martin (the owner) a message.

If Martin (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
