The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region

This is one of the most rural and untouched regions within Wales, with a wealth of natural beauty and wonderful landscapes, in both the countryside and at the coast. Visitors will be able to find uncrowded beaches and a diverse habitat for marine life around the Cardigan Bay area, with much of this coastline being designated as ‘Heritage Coast'. Here there are little coves and sandy beaches many of which can be explored by boat, which can be hired locally. Inland the Brecon Beacon National Park extends over 500 square miles and is home to some of Wales's most stunning mountain scenery. Small towns and charming villages are dotted throughout this area, just waiting to be discovered.

Aberporth

The charming seaside village of Aberporth is rightly regarded as one of Wales' most popular holiday destinations. In addition to the magnificent coastline, the local amenities are excellent and include a number of well regarded food and drink outlets. Highly recommended for a meal whilst overlooking the sea is the family-friendly Ship Inn, which is within easy walking distance. The views from the inn are to die for and keen-eyed ‘water-watchers' have a good chance of spotting a dolphin! Wales is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most popular areas for walkers in the UK and the lovely region of Ceredigion is at the forefront. An absolute must for keen walkers is the fantastic Ceredigion Coastal Path. This offers breathtaking cliff-top views and can be done in easily manageable sections. There is an all-year round bus service servicing the settlements along the path so walkers have numerous opportunities for drop-offs and pick-ups. Another ‘must' is a visit to historic Cardigan. This is the real hub of the region and is the focal point for a wide range of activities.
