The North Wales region

North Wales is a great combination of the family seaside resorts, which extend along its northern coastline and of course the magnificent mountains that make up Snowdonia Nation Park. Also located in this region are the very distinctive Island of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. So visitors will find a diverse holiday destination that caters for many different types of holidays from the family beach holiday to serious climbing holidays, and lots in between. There are plenty of things to do here; walking, sailing, fishing and many indoor attractions for the children. Wildlife enthusiasts will not be disappointed, with Anglesey and the Lleyn peninsula in particular being rich in diverse mix of habitats.

Abergele

North Wales is a true holiday hotspot and an excellent destination for a self-catering break. In addition to beautiful sandy beaches and quiet coves it offers numerous attractions for a family day out such as the Welsh Mountain Zoo located high above Colwyn Bay. This award-winning establishment practices a strict policy of compassionate and caring animal welfare and is highly recommended. To the west lies the spiritual heartland of Wales-Anglesey- a veritable paradise for walkers and cyclists and also the location for another well respected zoo. Those who appreciate fine buildings and gardens should visit the National Trust managed Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens. This interesting attraction enjoys a superb location overlooking the Menai Strait and was the traditional home of the Marquess of Anglesey. To the east of Anglesey is the picturesque village of Beaumaris, which is dominated by the stunning Beaumaris Castle standing sentinel over the settlement. Closer to home are the much loved holiday towns of Conwy and Llandudno. History lovers should not miss out on the chance to see the awe inspiring castle at Conwy, one of the most iconic symbols of Wales, and of course no holiday in this region would be complete without a trip to bustling Llandudno, which has been attracting and entertaining holiday-makers for generations. The lengthy pier offers a truly bracing walk and the town has a superb range of interesting shops to explore and many other holiday activities. For a change of scene (and country!) why not drive eastwards to the stunning walled city of Chester? Its visitor facilities are first class and highly recommended is one of the local river cruises.
