Enquire nowThe North Wales / Denbigh/Flint/Conwy region
North Wales has an abundance of attractions. The spectacular mountains of Snowdonia can be explored by walking or climbing and the new Snowdon summit complex can also be reached by taking the rack and pinion scenic railway train from Llanberis. The charming town of Betws-y-Coed below the spectacular Swallow Falls is about 25 minutes away and a little further afield are the slate mines of Llechwedd in Blaenau Ffestiniog. For walkers, the conwy valley, snowdonia and the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, stretching 20 miles inland from the sea, bounded by the Clwydian hills, has miles of fantastic walks. North Wales is also famous for its castles of Caernarvon, Conwy, Rhuddlan and Beaumaris on Anglesey, built by Edward the First and each with its own unique character. There are miles of golden beaches, from Prestatyn and Colwyn Bay in the east to the beaches of Red Wharf and Rhosneigr on Anglesey. Llandudno, with its sweeping Victorian sea front and blue flag beaches, has numerous attractions from the large dry ski slope and toboggan centre on the headland of the Great Orme, to the Promenade, Victorian Pier and elegant shopping centre. On the Orme you can visit the Bronze Age copper mines and travel by Cable Car or the Victorian Tramway. The views are incredible. Bodnant Gardens, on the banks of the river Conwy are worth visiting all year round. In contrast, the city of Chester with its rich Roman history and medieval shopping centre is less than an hours drive away. The award winning Chester Zoo and Knowsley Safari Park, both within easy reach are well worth a visit for families. The Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere is also a great family treat. A little further away is the city of Liverpool, with the Tate Modern in the Albert Docks and the Maritime Museum, with excellent exhibitions of the Titanic and Slavery, just through the Kingsway Tunnel on the Wirral.
The Abergele / Llangernyw area
Llangernyw is a small village, and won many awards for best kept village. The views from the property are spectacular; on a clear day the Snowdonia mountain range are visible. Bryn Ffynnon is about 5 miles from the market town of Abergele with easy access to the seven mile long coastal cycle path. The tiny city of St Asaph with its charming cathedral, is also only 8 miles away. The market towns of Denbigh and Llanwrst and the seaside resorts of Colwyn Bay Llandudno and Rhos-on Sea with their long sandy beaches are within 15 minutes drive. Inland from the farmhouse are the unspoilt Denbigh Moors with the reservoir of Lake Brenig for sailing and walking and cycling. Llangollen, with its steam railway and horse drawn canal boats, hosts the famous International Eisteddfod each July and can be reached by a spectacular drive over the Horseshoe Pass. For entertainment, Theatre Clwyd in Mold, The North Wales Theatre in Llandudno and Rhyl Pavillion have varied and high quality programmes. The Cineworld complex and bowling in Llandudno as well as the Greenwood Forest Park near Bangor, are great for family days out with the Pili Palas Butterfly Palace on Anglesey and the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay real favourites with younger children. Permits for fishing on local rivers and a local trout farm can be obtained. There are several local golf courses within a 15 minute drive. For the adventurous, kayaking, canoeing and white water rafting are available at the National White Water Centre in Bala - about an hours drive away . There are a good variety of cyce tracks along the coast around lakes and through forests within easy reach.
