The Perth and Kinross region

Perthshire is in the beautiful Central Highlands of Scotland and has some of the most spectacular scenery and varied wildlife in the country.

Moorland, mountains, lochs and burns offer "away from it all" exploration opportunities although historic centres such as Perth, Stirling, Inverness and Edinburgh are still within easy access.

Golfers are well catered for with some 40 courses available in Perthshire. Walkers can choose easy, riverside trails or more challenging Munros, and ample opportunities exist for boating, fishing, cycling and horse riding.

Whether interested in the archaeology, history and culture of Scotland, the natural environment or outdoor pursuits, Perthshire provides outstanding opportunities for all visitors.

Aberfeldy

The first Fairtrade Town in Scotland, Aberfeldy is an ideal centre for enjoying the many attractions of Perthshire.

Aberfeldy is located on the River Tay. Canoeing and fishing on the river are amongst the best in Scotland, the numerous walking trails accessible from the town include the famous “Birks of Aberfeldy”, whilst hill walking on the Ben Lawers range and Schiehallion regularly attract Munro baggers.

Off-road cyclists and walkers can explore the many miles of trails on Drummond Hill or in the Griffin Forest. Aberfeldy's 18 hole course and the nearby course at Strathtay will please golfers with courses slightly further afield at Taymouth and Pitlochry. The Dunolly Outdoor Centre in town provides canoeing, climbing and cycling facilities and equipment for all the family.

Aberfeldy is well served with restaurants and shops and visits can be made to Dewars Whisky Distillery in the town, the newly opened Birks cinema, the award winning Watermill Bookshop, Menzies Castle, and the Scottish Crannog Centre on nearby Loch Tay. Highland Safaris offers Land Rover excursions to view wildlife, as well as mountain biking and gold panning.

Within easy reach of Aberfeldy, visitors can enjoy productions at the famous Festival Theatre in Pitlochry, Blair Castle, the House of Bruar (the Harrods of the North), the Edradour Distillery and the magnificent scenery by Loch Rannoch and Loch Tummel.

"Great place to stay"

Excellent position with easy walking distance to town. Comprensive range of good facilities in home. Beds in twin room are best suited to children. WiFi is good. Mobile phone reception for O2 kept dropping out. A little walk along the road soon sorted it! Overall very good value for money.

Thank you for your comments and I'm glad that you enjoyed the facilities in the house and the close access to the amenities in the town. The 02 Mobile reception can vary sometimes from room to room. I note your comments on the twin beds and they are the normal 3ft divan size and so are suitable for both children and adults. Many thanks again.
