Set in Glen Lyon, know as Scotland's longest and loveliest glen, Craigeanie is a charming and stylish cottage which offers comfort and luxury as well as blissful peace and tranquillity. Surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery in Scotland the house benefits from a private garden all sitting within its 40 acres of fields and hill ground, including its own island and over 0.5 of a mile of the River Lyon, with trout fishing rights. There is also a garage and deer preparation area (to be ready for the 2012 stalking season), convenient for preparing the deer for the game dealer after a successful days stalking on the 500 acre hill immediately behind the property. Stalking is available by prior arrangement at an additional cost – please ask for details.

The owners of this beautiful house have spent considerable time and effort in creating a cosy and welcoming haven for their guests. Sleeping 5, there are 3 bedrooms – one double, one twin and one single. The cottage benefits from an en-suite bathroom to the master as well as a luxury family bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs. Each of the bedrooms is spacious and beautifully furnished with wonderful views. In addition, there is a charming Gypsy caravan in the garden which sleeps 2 and is available for use at an additional charge of £100 per week and is ideal for older children. Downstairs there is bright and airy sun room with a log burner and large windows offering more of those stunning views of the glen. In addition, there is a cosy sitting room with open fire and a large country kitchen with dining area. The finishing throughout the house is outstanding and it is easy to see why this cottage has been awarded 4 stars by Visit Scotland.

The large kitchen is very well equipped with such things as a dishwasher, microwave, range cooker, fridge. The units are of excellent quality with granite work tops. There is also a boot room/utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Dogs are welcome at Craigeanie and can sleep in this room. There is also a gun cabinet and space for fishing equipment etc.

A welcome tray which includes Fair Trade tea, coffee and sugar, fresh milk, home baking, fresh bread and local free range eggs awaits your arrival. We can also arrange a delivery of some basic groceries for you. In addition, we offer a catering service whereby a freshly cooked, homemade meal can be delivered to you during your stay or be waiting for you on arrival.

Bed linen and towels are provided and a basket of logs for each fire, heating and electricity are included in the price. We require a Good Housekeeping Deposit (GHD) of £200 which is fully refundable assuming the house is left in good order and there are no breakages or damage.

Please note that there is no mobile phone signal in the Glen but the house has free WiFi.

Craigeanie Farmhouse has a pretty terraced area accessed via french doors from the Sun Room and from the front door. It is extensively paved with gravel areas which are attractively planted. There is a table and chairs for al freasco dining and breathtaking views of the river and surrounding hills. The house sits in 40 acres of its own grounds which extend down to the River Lyon where there is a private stretch of 1/2 a mile of river bank where guests can fly fish for trout (in season). There is extensive gravel driveway parking for 2-3 cars, garage and Game larder. Stalking is available in season by prior arrangement - please ask for details and prices.

We offer full weeks from a Friday or Monday, 3 night weekend breaks from a Friday and 4 night mid week breaks from a Monday. A good housekeeping deposit of £200 is required. THis is fully refundable assuming the house is left in good order and there are no breakages or damage.

The Tayside/Perthshire region

GLEN LYON is famous for its breathtaking scenery and is arguably one of the most beautiful, yet easily reached areas in Scotland. The glen is perfect for walkers, with a choice of riverside and woodland walks and for the more energetic, there are mountains to climb, including Ben Lawers, Schiehallion and a circuit of four Munros known as the Glen Lyon Horseshoe. Cyclists enjoy the quiet road as well as the off road tracks in the area.

Aberfeldy

Three and a half miles to the west of Craigeanie is Bridge of Balgie, which has a post office, a charming tea room, a village shop selling basic groceries and an art gallery. There are some beautiful walks from here including a gorge walk and a “walk for wee folk” created with the help of the local primary school children.

Nearby to the east is the conservation village of Fortingall, a pretty village with thatched cottages, arts and crafts architecture and an ancient yew tree said to be the oldest living thing in Europe. The award winning Fortingall Hotel has an excellent restaurant and bar serving coffees, lunches and evening meals. We are told by past guests that Friday nights in the bar at the Fortingall Hotel is a night not to be missed! Live music and sing alongs accompanied by good food and drink and lots of fun and laughter.

The charming and popular village of Kenmore, sits at the head of Loch Tay and has a gift shop, delicatessen, restaurant, bistro and coffee shop, and provides access to a variety of activities including golf, horse riding, white-water rafting, sailing and kayaking. The loch has a lovely beach which is great for picnics and barbecues and ideal for paddling for the children.

"EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE HOUSE IN A MAGNIFICENT SETTING"

We spent a wonderful few days relaxing at Craigieanie Farmhouse. It really is a true home from home holiday house! Extremely comfortable throughout and superbly equipped.
