The Tayside/Perthshire region

The very picturesque 16th century village of Kenmore lies at the northern end of 14 mile long Loch Tay which straddles the region of Perthshire in the Highlands of Scotland. It is a very popular destination for activity holidays offering sailing, canoeing, canyoning, water-skiing, jet skiing, fishing and golf. It attracts walkers of all abilities. One of the main attractions on the Loch is the Scottish Crannog Centre, one of the country's top heritage museums. Crannogs are Iron Age thatched wooden houses built on stilts over the water. The breathtaking beauty of the area can be enjoyed on all levels, be it enjoying a relaxing drink at the Kenmore Hotel (the oldest coaching Inn in Scotland) which nestles on the banks of the River Tay or reaching the summit of the 3,000ft Ben Lawers. It is an area which caters for all ages.

Aberfeldy

Perthshire is a place of remarkable natural beauty with its lush forests, glistening Lochs and wild craggy peaks. There is a proliferation of wildlife to be seen, ranging from ospreys, red kites, golden eagles to red deer and red squirrels. Highland Safaris offer the chance to discover the amazing wildlife habitats with the help of a kilted ranger and Land Rover.

Aside from it's breathtaking scenery, Perthshire offers a fascinating history with its castles and historic buildings. The attractive towns of Pitlochry and Aberfeldy offer a flourishing arts programme and there are many galleries, craft shops and restaurants to be enjoyed.

The House of Bruar, 40 minutes north of Kenmore at Blair Atholl, offers an unforgettable shopping experience with its food hall, restaurant and the best of Scottish country clothing, both in tweed and cashmere.
