The Ceredigion region
Cardigan coast is famous for its excellent beaches and coves. Some of the better known beaches are Newquay, Llangrannog, Cwmtudu, Aberporth and Tresaith. There are many coastal and countryside walks throughout Ceredigion.
The nearby town of Aberystwyth is typical busy holiday town offering a mix of high street shopping and amusements. This University town is home to Aberystwth Castle and the National Library. Here you will also find the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, the longest electric railway in Britain, and the starting point of The Vale of Rheidol Railway, where you can take a trip on a narrow gauge stream train through the Rheidol valley to Devil’s Bridge. At Devil’s Bridge you can visit the famous Mynach Falls, Jacob's Ladder and the Devil's Punchbowl all of which are within walking distance of the station.
Aberaeron is famous as a historic harbour town with colourful Georgian houses. It has a wealth of restaurants and tea rooms. It is also the host of the annual Welsh Cob festival, which is held in August.
Penuwch is a small farming village. It has a variety of natural wild life and is well known as the home of the Red Kite and a host of other birds. The village also offers course fishing facilities.
After a short drive to Tregaron you will find the Cors Caron nature reserve and Red Kite Centre and also the Strata Florida Abbey.

Just got back from a fantastic weeks stay at the barn and already thinking about when we can book again. I don't really know where to start or even how to start to describe how wonderful the place is. The barn is very well kept and is fitted out with everything you need and more. Its situated in a fantastic location very close to Aberaeron (harbour town) and New Quay (great beach). The countryside surrounding the barn is breath taking, with lots of wildlife on view (it seemed every other bird was a red kite!!) The two horses on site (megan & crystal) kept the kids entertained for hours. Joy and Steve (& Will) were excellent hosts and made us feel so very welcome and relaxed. Thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful cottage.
