We bought La Alubia because we couldn't easily find affordable self-catering accommodation that met all our requirements.
We wanted it to be bright and clean, have a good big comfy bed, a good shower and facilities to make a decent cup of coffee or tea. A proper oven so that you could cook if you felt like it. Comfortable furniture that you can relax on to read or watch T.V. A lovely outside space for relaxing in the sun and shade. Being near the beach was also high on the list (and it's just seven minutes walk away).
As we all use budget airlines, we want to keep our luggage as minimal as possible. We thought hard about all the stuff needed on holiday and have provided every thing we could think of: alarm clocks, luggage scales, binoculars, picnic equipment, beach towels, hairdryers, sewing repair kit and basic first aid kit. Of course there is bed linen, the kitchen is fully equipped and there is plenty of crockery and cutlery. A full size oven with hob and a full size fridge/freezer. There are plenty of books for all ages, DVDs, games, jigsaws and packs of cards. We've also put in local guide books and maps as well as Spanish cookery books. There is no gas to the property.
We feel there must be other like minded people who wanted a quiet relaxing break so we are happy to rent La Alubia at a very reasonable rate.

The BBQ is beneath the quaint Horreo - traditional Galician raised grain store. On the patio there's a large table with chairs and parasol for al fresco meals, and we've even planted a small herb bed for you to use! The sun roof does get the sun all day so we've provided sunbeds as well as a table and chairs if you want a snack or cocktails up there, and there's another parasol for some shade.
Under the stairs is the laundry room with washing machine and deep utility sink.
La Alubia is a holiday home suitable for families (there is a travel cot available on request), or a couple. It is in a very quiet location with two family-friendly bar restaurants within easy walking distance. The beach is just a short walk away. We have provided everything we think you need included in the rental price and we don't ask for a breakage deposit . We know accidents can happen, so if you should have a small breakage we ask you to replace like for like; most things are available from Ikea in A Coruna. If a larger accident should happen, please contact our local agent or us as soon as you possibly can. We reccommend that children are not permitted on the roof terrace without adult supervision
We ask that you leave La Alubia as you find it. Please clean the BBQ after use and remove ALL your rubbish from the property before you leave.
The Galicia region
Despite having some of Spain’s best seafood and wines and fantastic unspoiled beaches, Galicia is still undiscovered by mass tourism. Situated at the northwestern corner of Spain on the Atlantic coast, it is easy to reach from the U.K.
Its moderate climate has provided a green landscape likened to that of Cornwall. It has a culture very different from other regions of the peninsula and fiestas are often celebrated to the sounds of the Celtic bagpipe! The local langauge is Gallego but everyone speaks 'standard' Spanish as well.
A Coruna has many beguiling historic towns and villages, not least Santiago de Compostela, the capital of the region. This World Heritage site is the final destination for many of the pilgrims to collect their ‘Compostela’.
A Coruna with its second-century lighthouse, The Tower of Hercules. The town of Lugo with its serpentine Roman Walls.
There many daily indoor markets, weekly street markets and large supermarkets.
On parts of the Galician Atlantic coastline there is fantastic surfing, interesting birdwatching, fishing and walking. Near La Alubia you will find tennis, windsurfing and scuba diving, and several beautiful and quiet beaches. The amazing wooded nature reserve Las Fragas de Eume is a short drive away.
