One big bedroom plus one comfortable sofa-bed, large open-plan living and dining area overlooking the lake. The apartment is set in on the 3rd floor (with lift) in a beautiful 1900 century block of flats called "condominio ROYAL VICTORIA", away from traffic yet only meters from the main square of the village, cafes and shops. Big garden,wide parking area, friendly neighborhood, walking distance form ferry boat harbour and Train station.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
Varenna is located in Lake Como and it is one of the most romantic villages of the aea, surrounded by tall peaks that rise directly from the water's edge, the luxuriance of its vegetation is equalled by the opulence of the local villas. Travel up the lake on an old-fashioned steamer, the scenery is breathtaking and the water is clean enough to dive right into. Our summers are wonderful with a pleasant breeze. July is the hottest month ( 26 / 30 C) , Springtime starts in March. May, June and September are the lovliest months. Winters are bright with lots of sun shine and nearly no rain but chilly, it may snow, but snow vanishes shortly near the lake and stays on the mountain tops. Lake Como has been an important through way for people coming and going north, pre-romanic churches, medieval castles and ... look out towers are still to been seen.
Varenna area
Varenna lies exactly halfway down the eastern shore of the lake on the Lecco branch. It was built on a rock promontory overshadowed by a steep mountain, at the top of which you can make out the outline of an old castle. Varenna is an unusual and beautiful place: on the one hand, it is a lively and modern tourist resort, the centre for all lake ferries, and on the other it preserves the remains of a medieval past which is one of the best conserved in the area. Varenna is a picturesque medieval village on the east coast of Lake Como. Many elements make it a magical place, such as the unique position in the centre of the lake, the frame of woods and vineyards on the slopes of the nearby mountains, and the sunny climate. Built in the Roman age, Varenna conserves its original forms by presenting itself as a small fishermen’s village, with its typical coloured houses, narrow stone streets and steep staircases. Called “pearl of the lake”, Varenna is also famous for its historical monuments, such as St. George church and the medieval fortress called Vezio Castle, and the ancients abodes of amazing beauty, such as villa Monastero and villa Cipressi. The Passarella connects the town centre to the ferry boat harbour. Along the walk you’ll pass villas, gardens and boats. The harbour is a typical past times fishermen resort with pastel coloured fishermen’s houses and a small beach. This is a wonderful town!
How to get there
Fly from UK to Milan/Bergamo airport with Ryan Air or with Easy Jet or British Airways, Alitalia... to Milan Linate. Discounted car hire available with Hertz / Ryanair. Orio al Serio Airport to Bergamo city station by bus, Bergamo to Lecco by train and change from Lecco to Varenna by train (total time h.1.30) Frequent bus transfers to Milan central station from the airports and one train every hour towards Varenna! There are always local taxis available Railway station is in town.

All of the facilities are available in this spacious, clean and very comfortable condominium building. Full kitchen and separate bathroom, full sized bedroom, with lots of closet space in the bedroom itself and throughout the overall unit. A safe for valuables, fully secured building with locked gates.
Further details outdoors: The building is on the lake, with a big and beautiful solarium terrace, and a nice garden. Garden and terrace are shared with other apartments owners.
The terrace for an afternoon siesta to lie and listen to the splash of the waters of Lake Como as you drift off to sleep in sunbeds available from the building. This private terrace area is only open to the individuals staying in the building and can be used to sunbathe, watch the ferries on the lake or the fish in it, or just read a book under an umbrella if desired.

Cleaning and linen change at the end of your holiday are included in the price, however, if you book for two weeks, a mid term towel and linen change is included but not an apartment clean. Beach towels are not provided , please bring your own. Please do not use the apartment towels for the beach.

ANYONE who wants the romance of Italy and a fantastic and memorable holiday not only has to stay in Varenna, but in this particular place. Home # 9399 was much more than we expected. Yes, the web site pictures are there to see, but until you waken up in the morning to a view that any photographer would find desirable, you have not experienced Northern Italy. The Lake, the trees, the mountains and sun that greet you upon awakening is something to see and to remember long after you leave. The views at sunset from the double windows in the living room area where the sky changes in colour, and the stars appear, is SPECTACULAR!! Home 9399 is a HIGHLY recommended stay. The hosts cannot do enough to ensure you are comfortable, and that everything you may need is available to you in the condo. There is plenty to do in the area, a day trip to Switzerland is not difficult to manage, knowing that a return to a clean, friendly, soothing Varenna and Home 9399 awaits you. David and Margaret.
