“Incedible Stay in Chianti” My boyfriend and I spent two months traveling Europe and stayed in some amazing places, however our three nights in the albola Suite were by far the best. Mila, the property owner greeted us upon arrival to give us a warm welcome and detailed description of the region and it's history. Her and aubry's extensive list of restaurant recommendations helped us uncover some of the most unique and incredible flavors of Chianti, which would soon become some of the highlights of our trip. The suit is beautiful and clean. It's hard to believe but the pictures do not do the villa, hilltop and views any justice! Would recommend anyone traveling to the region not to look past this incredible property with breathtaking views, and hosts that are both friendly and helpful.

Pornano
Very well equipped, comfortable, cosy, beautiful location, lovely owners

My boyfriend and I went to Pornano to stay in June 2013 and had a lovely time. What we wanted We had come to Tuscany as a young couple (23 & 24) with the aim of having a relaxing holiday – working quite hard in London, the key things we wanted out of our time in Tuscany were to explore the area, go for walks, cook meals ourselves (occasionally go out), lounge around together and just generally de-stress. If this is what you want too, then we can recommend Pornano as a place where you’ll be able to do all those things. House Pam and Ken own a beautiful farmhouse building (shown in the picture) which has a terrace, front and back garden and is surrounded by beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside. The part which Ken and Pam rent out is the bottom floor apartment. It has two separate entrances (one into the kitchen/living room area and one into the bedroom). You can sit outside on the terrace to sunbathe and eat dinner and you can also go on walks in the surrounding countryside. We had two walks whilst at Pornano – one with Ken around the local area and one by ourselves to Radda for lunch which was more lengthy but was beautiful and well worth it. Ken and Pam have a dog and cat which is great for animal lovers – if you are allergic (as I am) this is not an issue (at least wasn’t for me) as the flat is separate and you can keep the doors closed. Though we didn’t try them out, Ken and Pam have 2 mountain bikes and a barbeque outside as well as lots of books to read and seat cushions to keep you occupied and comfortable. Furnishings/self catering We were really pleased with the apartment itself. It is a good size, with a main living room/kitchen area which has sofas, wifi and a large dining table. There is a sofa bed as well if you need to use it and the bed in the main (only) bedroom is extremely comfortable. The apartment was very thoughtfully furnished throughout. All kitchen utensils were of high quality and there was everything you could possibly need to make a good meal (chopping boards, juicers, graters, meat knives, oven proof dishes etc). The oven was very good quality (cooked our duck very well) and the fridge was large and cold (there is also a freezer). The bathroom had several fresh towels and everything we needed (soap, toilet paper, cleaning products, tissues). There was one large wardrobe and a chest of drawers (again, high quality and homely) so we could pack our things away easily. When we arrived there was milk and water in the fridge already as well as coffee, tea, oil, vinegar and other essentials. Overall, we were very impressed with how well equipped the place was and how thoughtfully it had been furnished. Hospitality Ken and Pam own the main part of the house but there are also two other ‘annex’ parts which house two other residents, Amber and Carlo. There are also sisters who live at the back of the house but they only come occasionally for weekends/holidays. Ken, Pam and Amber are all English but speak fluent Italian which was very helpful as we had no Italian. They know everything about the local area and were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction, suggesting ideas, letting us know about events that were going on and so forth. Ken and Pam let us make the first move in terms of socialising (if you would rather keep yourselves to yourselves they would very much respect that) but we were keen to get to know them and as a result we had a couple of summer evenings where we had a drink and a chat which were very enjoyable! One evening Ken also took us for a walk in the surrounding countryside and talked to us about the local history, people and culture which was very interesting. We really did feel that there were no expenses spared in making sure our stay was pleasurable and relaxing; for example, when we arrived Ken and Pam had left homemade bread, marmalade and wine for us to enjoy as well as selling us their homemade olive oil at a very reasonable price. Location You will need a hire car to go to Pornano as there is not much within walking distance of the house itself. However, there are many places around 10-15 minutes away by car, such as Castellina in Chianti (great wine tasting, very picturesque, can get gelato, market on Saturday), Greve (about 25 minutes but has a lovely butcher and square and wine museum etc) as well as Radda and another couple of smaller hilltop towns. There is a co-op supermarket in Castellina which suited our needs whilst there is a bigger supermarket, ‘Pam’, about 25-30 minutes away in Poggibonsi where you can find a lot more choice. Things to do There is plenty to do around the area. Going for walks is a great way to explore and Ken and Pam were happy to lend us maps and books to guide us. If you don’t want a ‘walk’ though, getting somewhere without a car would be difficult but if you do have one it’s not far to the nearest village. We spend a bit of time in the hilltop villages mentioned above (Greve, Chianti) but also went to Siena (about 30 mins away), Florence (45 mins away), Col di Val Elsa (30 mins away) and San Gimignano (35 mins away) all of which we really enjoyed. Places we could have gone but missed were Volterra (famous for Alabaster) and the seaside (about 1 hour 15 mins away) as well as Pisa. Overall, we had a wonderful stay; both because that Pornano allowed us to see and do what we had wanted to do, but also because we felt that a lot of effort had been put into making sure we were happy, which made a big difference. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate about returning!see more
Podere Val delle Corti
Living the Dream!

Val delle Corti was the quintessential Tuscan experience. Lis and Roberto treated us like family during our stay on their vineyard and their local recommendations were invaluable. The beautifully restored barn that became our home for a week was extremely well equipped (possibly the best kitchen of anywhere we have stayed!). The property is a comfortable stroll to Radda and an ideal base for day tripping to the beautiful hilltop towns of Tuscany. Thankyou for sharing your home with us!
