One enters the house into an enormous dining hall, which has a table large enough for 16 people if the whole house is rented. Next to this entrance hall there is also a kitchen that is opened when the house is rented as a whole. The stairs lead into a large living room with a working fireplace surrounded by comfortable sofas. To the left is an eat-in, well-equipped kitchen. To the right of the living room a corridor leads to the four bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, though not en-suite. At the end of the corridor a terrace allows beautiful views over the swimming pool and the hills of Emilia Romagna. The house is set in a wonderful position and has views that continue forever. Collinaccia, like the other houses on the Collina estate, is a wonderful base for visiting the east of Italy; Ravenna with its wonderful Byzantine mosaics or Rimini where one of Alberti's more formal architectural projects, the Tempio Malatestiano, still stands. The Adriatic coast is about an hour away and Faenza, with its rich tradition of ceramics, is within half an hour's drive. Bologna, Ancona or Rimini are better airports to fly to than Pisa or Florence though the latter can easily be reached by driving across the mountains to Marradi and taking the train.  …see more

Located near the south-eastern corner of Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, Casa Eleonora claims a hilltop position amid the rolling green landscape bordering the Foresti Casentinesi - a national park extending southward into Tuscany. In fact, this property once was part of Tuscany! The village of Tredozio, 2.5 km from the house, is peaceful and quiet, yet also offers a number of inviting restaurants, including a Michelin one-star restaurant, the Mulino di San Michele, located in an old mill. In Tredozio you will also find a grocery, two bakeries, a butcher, pharmacy, bank, post and a Cappuccino bar. Emilia-Romagna stretches coast-to-coast just north of Tuscany and is best known for its food - Parma ham, parmesan cheese, Bolognese sauce, and balsamic vinegar are just a few of many delicious regional innovations. Faenza, with its world-famous ceramics museum and production house, is 30 kilometers away, and the splendid medieval fortress of Brisighella is half as far. Visit Ravenna (50 km) to see the world's finest Byzantine mosaics outside of Istanbul, and from here it's just minutes to the Adriatic coast. The distinguished city of Bologna (75 km) offers a delightful urban experience, and also the Tuscan capital of Florence (90 km) is accessible for an easy day trip. Casa Eleonora is a classical country house plus cottage, which has been restaured in 2004. The main house has been divided into two large apartments for six people each. The former chapel of the estate has been transformed into a small guesthouse suitable for a couple. Both houses share the swimming pool (10 x 5 m). Each unit has table and chairs for al fresco dining. 12 people can be seated comfortably in the garden around a large wooden table, more tables can be pushed together if your group is larger. With a total of 14+2 beds, this is the ideal property for a large group of people to share. Additional amenities include: outdoor areas in the garden, mobile phone available upon request on the premises.  …see more

Casa Caterina is a comfortable 3 bedroom family house with garden, pool and views over a lovely stretch of countryside. This charming house is a part of the large estate of La Collina, on the border of Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, and has been in the same family for over 400 years. Set on a small ridge of its own, the house looks out towards Tuscany with wonderful views over the ridges of the Apennines. Recently converted, it comfortably sleeps 6 and every bedroom has french windows directly onto the gardens. The old pizza oven has been carefully kept and can be used for cooking real wood-fired oven pizzas. The swimming pool is on a higher level than the house and enjoys the same spectacular views. The house is built into the side of a hill, so one enters from the upper floor, into the dining room. To the right is a well-equipped kitchen, while on the left is a comfortable living room with a working fireplace. In the far corner of the living room a door leads to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. French windows lead to the garden from the double bedroom. A circular staircase in the dining room leads downstairs where there are a further 2 bedrooms, one with ensuite. Both these lower bedrooms also have french windows leading out onto the garden, making the house feel delightfully airy in the summer. Mazzino, as the other houses on the Collina estate, straddles Tuscany and Emilia Romagna and is an excellent base for visiting the east of Italy; Ravenna with its wonderful Byzantine mosaics or Rimini where one of Alberti's more formal architectural projects, the Tempio Malatestiano, still stands. The Adriatic coast is about an hour away and Faenza, with its rich tradition of ceramics, is within half an hours drive. Bologna, Ancona or Rimini are better airports to fly to than Pisa or Florence though the latter can easily be reached by driving across the mountains to Marradi and taking the train. The Tosco-romagnolo Apennines are a beautiful area in their own right, with hidden villages, delicious restaurants and a wonderful feeling of discovery, as few people visit this area. Cycling, climbing and walking are are well catered for, with some mountain passes climbing up to 1000 metres, between 1600 metre high mountains. Emilia Romagna is the region of good cooking: Tortellini, Parma ham, Parmesan cheese, Bolognese ragu', ravioli are all from this area. Tredozio itself, the small town at the foot of the hill, boasts a Michelin starred restaurant whose chef will come and cook for you in La Collina, a gourmet's dream. Tredozio also hosts concerts during the summer ranging from Jazz to Chamber music, and has tennis courts, shops and restaurants.  …see more

The entrance to the lower floor is on the other side of the house - the Tuscan side. The entrance leads into a large living room with a stone fireplace. Turning right one finds the dining room, which also has a door into the communal dining room; locked if the houses are rented separately. Beyond the dining room there is a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Beyond the kitchen there is a bedroom with its own bathroom and independent access into the garden. Back in the main living room, a spiral staircase leads up into a small, independent suite, while a corridor at the far end of the living room leads to 2 further bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower. The last bedroom along the corridor also has its own door to access the garden.
