“Greatest Hospitality in the World!” We had the pleasure of staying at arete for 8 days in early October. Helen and Sean are the most gracious hosts and their warmth and hospitality can't be beat! Before we left, Helen gave us a heads up about a general strike, which gave us time to rebook some flights and saved us a huge hassle at the airport. This was a wonderful gesture on her part that we very much appreciated. Because the apartments are in their home, Helen and Sean are right there in case you need help, advice, a map, conversation, or just about anything else. Our room was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed for a great stay, including eggs, olive oil and wine when we arrived. The house is an easy 30 mins drive to Chania, and 5 minutes to beaches. Being in a beautiful village, staying here is the best way to experience the real Crete. All the people we met were wonderful and the food was fantastic. We loved the peace and quiet at arete, with the only sounds being those of nature: breeze, the animals, and most importantly, no traffic! If you need to decompress, this is the place for you. We look forward to returning as soon as we can, and will recommend arete to all of our friends and family.
