“A home away from home...” My recent trip to the Philippines was finalized only about 2-3 weeks before departure date, and I dreaded staying at a hotel for 10 days so when I looked up accommodations on Tripadvisor I doubted I would get anything decent. But then, this place showed up and I booked it right away to ensure a spot. Since I was looking at other places at the same time and needed an answer, I texted the owner (Albert) and he responded right away. This area in Makati is not what I remembered it to be 10 years ago, but for the occasional traveller who is looking for a comfortable unit, located in a central area near shops, restaurants, a supermarket, and nightlife - this place is great. The unit has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchenette, living room, and dining table. There is also parking available if you should dare to drive in Manila, and/or if you have family or friends briefly visiting. The owner's manager was prompt and on time on the date of our arrival, making sure you knew how to get in and out of the unit, how to use the TV, phone, etc. There were a few minor issues with insects, but nothing major or frightening. For a tropical climate like the Philippines, this is to be expected. There was also some noise from the construction nearby and neighbors, but it wasn't too bothersome or constant. What mattered most to me was the cleanliness, as well as feeling safe and comfortable after a day of being out in the Manila traffic and sightseeing. I have appreciated the owner's prompt responses whenever I had a question or concern; he was very approachable and reasonable. Details in the contract were clear with no loopholes. It was great doing business with his family and staying at a great place that's affordable!
