Limassol is the centre of Cyprus’ wine industry, with local wines harvested from the vineyards on the sides of the Troodos mountains. The city has an annual wine festival in September and a colourful carnival at the start of Lent. There is also plenty to see and do outside of the city, such as the ruined city of Amathus and Akrotiri Salt Lake, which is home to thousands of flamingos during the winter. Nearby Pissouri is conveniently located between Paphos and Limassol, with spectacular mountain views and an unspoilt feeling to it, the town is ideal for a relaxed holiday. |
