“Back to simple, natural, sea around things” We were delighted! Having open windows(during night), few meters far away from the sea&waves, accommodated in an hundred years old - stone made- house, property of a great Croatian family, sun bathing, swimming, sailing (forget the TV, although a flat screen one in the apartment)...what else would you need?Convinient connected to Dubrovnik(regular sea trips with Postira boat), the island is natural oasis, near to a great (still crowd Dubrovnik)...definitely considering to return.

Top Destination reviews

President apartment
We absolutely loved it!

Our first visit to Croatia and we were so delighted when we arrived on Kolocep. Ante is a wonderful host and very helpful. The apartment is lovely, clean and spacious with a really good sized terrace and an amazing view overlooking the bay, which greeted us every morning! If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful holiday - we can highly recommend this apartment on this beautiful island and we will definitely be returning! Thank you Ante and Family.see more
Romantic apartment
A relaxing gem

Firstly, you can't write a review without mentioning the Svilokos family. They live a couple of floors below the top story/ sleeps 2 apartment and were as friendly as you could hope for. When we arrived by ferry on dubrovnik, Ante's daughter met us while her dad came over with his boat (bigger than a dingy, smaller than a yacht - not sure what the appropriate name for it is!) to ferry us and our luggage across the harbor, which was a pleasant surprise! Throughout our stay they were always helpful and never failed to greet us with a smile and a "Hi" and when we asked about getting back to the airport they offered to transfer us there for 40Euros (about 280HRK at todays exchange rate 14.08.12) using their boat and car. With a 30kg suitcase and 2 lots of hand luggage its a bit easier than the Postira ferry back to Gruz then bus/taxi back. Pricewise its only marginally more expensive than that - ferry to Gruz approx 70-80HRK for two, taxi about the same again to the airport from Gruz, ATLAS bus is much cheaper but not sure of the price. The apartment itself is ideally situated. Its about a 6-7min walk to the shop around the bay, but better its only 3-4min away from not just the best restauarant on the island but the best restauarant in Dubrovnik in our opinion - Villa Ruza. We couldnt imagine a trip to dubrovnik without a trip there now. There are a couple of bikes left for use - which we sadly didnt make use of but could probably cut your trip to the shop down to a couple of minutes! The shop itself is a bit like a village/corner shop but has everything youll need and the staff are a friendly lot and speak good english (better than our croatian!). Fresh bread comes in about 10:30 every day and we usually ate bread and prsut (ham) and cheese for our breakfasts. The water is translucent in the bay, clear enough to see everything - fish and urchins alike. You DO need to avoid the urchins or wear some good/thickish swim shoes. They are far enough apart and the water so clear we never found it a problem anywhere - Lokrum, Dubrovnik or Kolocep. We were worried about it and asked at the tourist office. We thought they werent being very helpful when they said "dont bother with shoes - its fine", they werent it was probably right on the money but id recommend just having a cheap set in case. The apartment is well furnished. The living room is spacious, the bedroom is large enough and the bathroom is fine. the kitchen IS a little awkward for anymore than one person at a time, but being in the attic its probably the best place to make a compromise on space and it didnt affect our stay. There IS Wi-Fi here, but being on an island and being in the furthest apt from the signal receiver its intermittent. Best to go on the terrace, signal strength there is 3-4 bars. Signal strength in the top apt we were in is 0-2 bars and can sporadically drop signal. If its high season do bring a anti glare screen cover for your laptop if you plan on using it for a long period. Round the corner on the way to the shops, there is also a place where you can hire sea kayaks. The sea is pretty calm - glasslike on some days - and there are some great coves, caves and cliffs around the coastline. It takes approx 3-4 hrs to kayak around the island and is worth checking out. You wont be alone as some days there will be close to a dozen people doing the same thing :) There is a terrace that is shared with the apartment below - each apt has its own table, chairs and parasol. The view over the bay is rather nice. There is also a barbecue, but we didnt use it. Combination of laziness, proximity of villa ruza. Would probably give it a whirl next time we came though. And we will be coming back, which is about as good a recommendation as we can give you. Always a good sign when you talk about coming back before youve even left!see more
Villa SeaDream-Apartment Maria
For a very quiet stay in a beautiful restful island, this is highly recommended.

We spent 5 days here in the most peaceful part of this already peaceful island. The apartment is in a house which is situated overlooking the small harbour with one charming restaurant in it. There is a 15 minute walk to the larger harbour in the island with a couple of restaurants and small shop. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and the family could not have been more helpful or welcoming . Maria was always bringing a generous bowl of fruit from her orchard or something she had just cooked for the family. For a very quiet stay in a beautiful restful island, this is highly recommended.see more

Very nice place

We spent one week in Chiara's appartment and we really enjoyed it. Everything was clean and confortable. We reaaly appreciated being close to beaches and our sons (7 and 11) had a great time there ! Luksa and his family are very helpful : he helped me when I once needed to see a doctor, his mother offered us some fish, some fruits... She is very nice. She also sells products from her garden (delicious tomatoes, potatoes...). It's very convenient because the shop is about 20 mn walking, at the other village in the island and is rather small. You can easily buy fruits, bread, beverages, yogurts but it's not that easy to buy meat. We didn't use internet nor the washing machine (the charge is not included in the price of the appartment) but it was possible. We chose to be picked up by boat by Luksa's father in Dubrovnik and it was very convenient. We didn't use the nice terrace with the view on the sea because it's not completly private (Luksa's family use it and some other guests as well). We were allowed to go but we finally stayed on a other small terrace, just for us.see more
Family apartment
Wonderful

This was a perfect and simple apartment for our five nights on the beautiful island of Kolocep. Communication prior to going was good and helpful and we recieved a warm welcome when we arrived. Although the apartment had two bedroom we only had need for one and it was very clean and well equipped. We had one cold, rainy day and a sofa area would have been nice as the kitchen is small and very dark - however these are minor points as for the other four days we used the wonderful outdoors area. What made this apartment so very special was its proximity to the sea!!! Right there beneath the apartment!!! A lovely decked area with plenty of sunbeds are available directly below the apartment - the sea is so beautifully clean and clear - but beach shoes are required due to the sea urchins that clinf to the rocks and pebbles. This 'beach' is stony but just five minutes away is a beautiful sandy beach, again so clean and clear, with sun beds to hire if you wanted. The sea is easy to get into and seemed very safe. The island of Kolocep is pure magic - no cars, so so clean, friendly people. We went towards the end of the season and had hoped to just eat in the restaurants but sadly one had closed already, one was only doing a very limited menu (and i believe stopped serving food half way through our stay) one was only doing weddings for the whole five nights we were there which was disappointing and one is owned by the hotel and the hotel guests came first! They so had/didnt have a booking system which became confusing - we booked with the restaurant onky to find our booking was null and void as we hadn't booked through the hotel! This left us without food for one night - luckily we had bought bread and cheese from the little shop to tide us over!!! The next time we booked with the hotel (although they tried to tell us we didn't need to!!!) however - we had two of our very best meals ever in this restaurant and would go back to the island to eat here again!!!! All in all the apartment was perfect, the island is magical and we had the best five night stay - thank you xsee more
