It is said that Ireland, once visited, is never forgotten. The breathtaking landscapes are rich with truly luminous greens and luxuriant wildflowers, and much of the island benefits from sunny summers as well as frosted winters. The country also offers an abundance of sacred sites from stone circles, to 1000-year-old early Christian churches. There are amazing and famous sites to see from the Blarney Stone – which is said to give the gift of eloquence to those who kiss it – to the Giant’s Causeway. Whatever the time of year, be prepared for rain because Ireland is wet. However, as the wettest places are often the most beautiful it is worth packing a raincoat just so you can experience the delights of places like County Kerry, which receives a staggering 270 rainy days per year! The abundance of rain also provides the perfect excuse to while away afternoons drinking Guinness in the famous pubs of Dublin – and listening to the wealth of stories that Ireland has to tell. |
