As a Holiday Lettings advertiser you can donate some last minute unoccupied weeks for a family of Helen & Douglas House to use. Helen & Douglas House provides respite and end of life care for children and young adults with life-shortening illnesses. They also provide ongoing support for their families and bereavement care.

How a holiday can make a difference

Juggling family, work and commitments that make up a busy life can be difficult for anyone; even more so when your child has a serious illness and needs care night and day.

For many of the families in this situation, holidays are way down on the priority list. But that break away can make a big difference to everyone. Sometimes the child could be well enough to travel, but may need a home adapted for disabled guests. The child’s other siblings could also benefit from quality time with their parents whilst their brother or sister is in respite care at one of the hospices.

Register to help a family

You can help a child and their family by donating a week, or a few days, at your holiday home. If you'd like to get involved, please register your interest by emailing us at helenanddouglas@holidaylettings.co.uk and just tell us:

  1. your Advertiser ID
  2. which days or weeks you would be willing to offer over the next year
  3. details about whether your home is adapted for disabled guests (this is not always a requirement).

It's very difficult for the families to plan holidays too far in advance as their situation can change quite rapidly. After registering your interest, we will contact Helen & Douglas House to let them know that a holiday may be available at your home. We'll get in touch with you nearer the time to check whether that time is still available.
