“Great little cottage” This was a great little cottage, the kitchen was well equipped. The location was lovely and Melanie was really friendly and helpful. The parking was plentiful on site and it was as quiet as you could hope for, the only problem for us and it’s nothing that can be changed, is the size of the bedrooms, we have 2 dogs, which Melanie was more than happy to have in the cottage but they like to sleep on the floor in the bedroom with us, but there wasn’t enough room for the both of them. The local pub has a fantastic menu and is only a 2 minute walk away. We would definitely stay here again!

“Wisteria Cottage - Quiet, Cosy, Comfortable, Just What We Needed” We and our dog have just returned from a very pleasant, relaxing week at Wisteria cottage. The cottage is in a quiet area and is cosy, comfortable and remarkable well equipped; a regular home from home, with great wi-fi. There are lots of lovely local walks and the Black Venus, a very short walk away, provided us with some extremely tasty meals. Melanie and John were remarkably willing and helpful and their local knowledge guided us to some lovely interesting places and dog walks. We look forward to visiting again and happily recommend Wisteria for a “get away from it all” holiday. Eira & David

“-Re-review: Home from home” We never go anywhere twice if we don't like everything about the place we stay, (we can be very picky) but we have returned here for a number of years now. Challacombe is a great little village, with friendly people, quiet lanes, a Post Office (that does home-made take-aways on Tuesdays: we had a lovely roast chicken dinner but the previous week was pork in cider) and a pub with great food. I was far too relaxed to cook every night and could just about manage the 3 minute walk; though with so much to look at it usually took 10 . You can tell it's a safe place for dogs and children because the ducks from the stream were laying their eggs in the road and soft verges. These charming lanes come with an abundance of wildflowers rather than white lines and if you like walking you'll love the footpaths that lead off the lanes and all within a 2 minute walk from the cottage door. We still haven't got round to all of them! The cottage itself is roomy and well-equipped.Being out in the National Park the cottages have a septic tank but that doesn't cause any issues unless you're daft enough to flush baby wipes down the loo and bung up the pipes, which only causes a back-up and a pong in the cottage where it was done. There are no phones in the cottages and a mobile signal is a bit hit-and-miss but you can always log on to the wi-fi and make the folks you left behind jealous, like we did. The wi-fi isn't fast enough for streaming but who has time for that anyway? We also found it so much better to wake up to the sounds of birds than the noise of traffic. (Rush hour in the village consists of a car and a quad-bike at around 7.30am & again at 4.30pm as far as we could tell. Each cottage here has it's own garden but they all vary in size. The Gatehouse garden is like the Secret Garden. It's not manicured into a green desert and devoid of life. There is no lawn, the plants are exuberant and so is the wildlife. In half an hour we counted 12 different species of birds, a couple of (now rare) hedgehogs and loads of butterflies. There are two other areas in the grounds to loll about in. On the flat, and across the car-park, is a wildlife area. Obviously this is "managed wild" and there is a largish pond so children and dogs should be supervised. It might get a bit squishy underfoot sometimes too so not somewhere to wear your Jimmy Choos. The other area is up the hill. Kids and dogs love running through the long grass to the play frame whilst I prefer to use the mown paths to sneak a peek over the wall at the Alpacas in the adjoining field. If you and your children would like something a little more exotic the Exmoor Zoo is just a ten minute drive up the road; where you can get really close to all the exhibits and their keepers. If you like to relax on holiday, connect with nature, recharge your batteries and see the night sky covered in twinkling stars, this is the place to come. If you just want to move your life to a different location for a while, go somewhere else.

“Excellent” "Sea Glass" is situated near the centre of Lynton just round the corner from the post office, tourist information and convenience stores. The apartment is extremely well-equipped and spotlessly clean. Brenda, the owner, was away when we were there but sent clear directions as to how to gain entry and provided us with a local contact in case of any queries. The apartment has its own parking space. It is a very quiet apartment and both bedrooms were airy and light. A digital radio, large wall-mounted TV and selection of DVDs were provided for entertainment and there was a good collection of local guide books and ideas for outings. The area is very beautiful with some lovely walks. All in all this was an ideal base for exploring North Devon and we can wholeheartedly recommend this property. Barbara and Iain

“Excellent base to explore Exmoor” We booked this cottage last minute as all hotels in the area were fully booked and hoped it looked as good as the picture. In fact it was better! The cottage is immaculately maintained and every detail to enhance your stay has been thought of including a comprehensive welcome pack and some lovely complimentary grocery essentials on arrival. It was the perfect place to explore the beautiful local area and ideal when you have young children.We always worry, having been put off previously by bad holiday rental homes and tend to plump for well known hotel brands (or seek trip advisor's advice!) but I needn't have been concerned on this occasion as it is clear that Tess takes real pride in ensuring the cottage is the perfect place to stay away for her guests. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property - thank you for a lovely stay!

“Superb place to stay - especially with dogs” A lovely spot right by the river, lovely, well equipped cottages and safely fenced gardens. Fab walking from the door step and conveniently placed for visiting other parts of Exmoor too. Both pubs in the village do good food and accept dogs. The only holiday I have been on when I wanted to book for next year before I left!

“Most enjoyable, comfortable visit. Felt welcomed and well accommodated.” A beautiful spot with great walks from the front door and dog friendly. The cottage was very comfortable and well appointed with all that one needed for self-catering, including a clothes washing machine. Our second visit and hope we will be back next year.

“Excellent, spacious accommodation in fantastic location” The accommodation was excellent with spacious bedrooms, lovely sitting room with log burner and fully equipped large kitchen/diner. The walk to the village of Exford is a few minutes along a river path where excellent pubs, shops and facilities can be found. It was lovely to be able to walk from the cottage door to Exmoor National Park. A great weekend and we will be returning.

“We just keep coming back!” This must have been our 4th or 5th stay in Inglenook Cottage - so perhaps that speaks for itself! The cottage is very well equipped but full of original character - it is always cosy and warm. We always feel instantly at home when we open the door. The owners are delightful and so helpful but also give you plenty of space. The area has so much to offer - beautiful beaches, rugged coastline, woods and stunning moors. The local pub is excellent and 200 yards away. We have booked again for May and September 2019...enough said!

“Amazing” We stayed 21st-28th October 2017, & what a fabulous holiday we had. The accommodation was everything we could have wished for. The owners were very welcoming & helpful with recommendations of places to visit & eat. “Fantastic views from the balcony” We had a great stay at St Crispins with our 3-month old boy and grandparents. The views from the living room and balcony are amazing. We found the bungalow itself to be modern, fresh and clean on arrival - equipped with everything we needed for us and our baby for the week. The hill back up to the bungalow is steep but short - great exercise to work off the many tasty pub meals we sampled - we strongly recommend the pack o'cards pub (we ate in the modern restaurant extension) which also has a great beer garden. Great communication from the owner too as well as a useful info pack on arrival.
