The most globally celebrated of Scotland’s National Days is Burns Night. Whether you are a fan of Robert Burns’ Romantic Movement poetry or not, the commemoration of his life and works on 25th January is always great fun! Every Scottish city will provide a wide range of venues where you can celebrate the great Bard of Ayrshire with a wee dram of whiskey. Alternatively, you could host your own informal Burns Night supper at a Scottish holiday property.

The traditionalist can indulge in Burns Night food such as cock-a-leekie soup, haggis and Clootie dumplings, and to round the evening off everyone can join in a rendition Auld Land Syne. During Robert Burns Night you may also have the opportunity to attend a ceilidh dance, hear pipers or listen to readings of Burns poems such as “My Love is like a Red, Red Rose”.
