It provides the chance for up and coming tennis players, as well as famous champions such as Justine Henin and Andy Roddick, to start making their mark for 2010. Last year Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer in an emotional final to the 2009 Australian Open men single’s championship, and Serena Williams triumphed on the women’s side. The only Australian player so far to win the championship has been Rod Laver, but all eyes this year will be on Aussie Jelena Dovic who gripped everyone’s attention in her battle to a place in the 2009 quarter finals. The Australian Open tennis matches are held in Melbourne park, and tickets are already on sale. There are plenty of other reasons to take a trip to this city though. Visitors can enjoy the views from the Great Ocean Road, view Aboriginal art and take in the fabulous scenery that Australia has to offer. |
