“Far from the Maddening Crowd” I think this is one of the best places I have stayed at. It is very much in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful fields and woodland and I have stayed at some wonderful places. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very spacious. Everything about it was just perfect. The owners were very helpful and kind and we had a very nice welcome pack on arrival which included a homemade sponge and wine and eggs. I would love to stay here again as I think it was the perfect retreat. I would highly recommend it.

“Fantastic barn conversion” A lovely barn conversion, spotlessly clean and all that is required for a self catering break. We stayed for 4 nights and Kev was great at getting the house ready for us at such short notice as our camping trip turned into a fiasco! House is in a great location and our boys enjoyed being able to go swimming in the outdoor pool. Would definitely return.

“Perfect rural get away, a beautiful dog friendly cottage set in the Yorkshire Dales” Our family of 4 adults and our dog had a wonderful weekend at Orchard View. The cottage is beautiful and comfortably accommodated us all. Its clean and modern but still really cosy and really well equipped. Stephen the owner was responsive to messages prior to our arrival and welcoming during our stay. There are walks that you can take from the cottage or many places within a short drive. We definitely hope to visit again

“Lovely modern home, easy to find, definitely would return with family or friends. Suits everyone!” Great weekend celebrating my birthday. The house had everything we needed and more from a fully equipped kitchen to a box full of games and DVDs. We loved the undercover decking area with the sunken colour changing hot tub surrounded by plenty of lights which lit up in the area when the sun set... We didn't want to leave!

“Five stars for rest and relaxation” We stayed at The Hemmel at Old Town Farm in Otterburn for a long weekend but felt like we'd been away for weeks. As soon as we arrived in this stylish, comfortable barn conversion we started to unwind. The rental is set in beautiful rolling countryside with fantastic views over the nearby hills and farmland and you can't help but leave your worries behind and enjoy the peace and quiet. The rental comprises a large, high-ceilinged, open plan living room/diner/kitchen, a sunroom, two bedrooms, a fantastic shower room and two gardens. The main living area has open beams, skylights and lovely deep windows that show off the depth of the barn walls. There is a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen and large rustic dining table. You don't mind washing up with views like this, but there is a big dishwasher too :-) The lounge area is gorgeous, with a wood burning stove and French doors to both sides. This gives you views of the hills to one side, and the large walled garden to the other, and makes the room really light and airy. It was lovely to open all the doors and have that indoors/outdoors living experience, where your garden is like another room of the house. The sunroom overlooks the walled garden. Perfect for watching the little one play whilst you read a book or have a lazy coffee. There are two stylish bedrooms with comfy beds (one king, one twin). We loved the 'arrow slit' windows in our master bedroom. The bathroom is amazing. Well, a shower room really, but WHAT a shower! This shower is the biggest I've seen, with a fab 'rain' style shower head. You also have access to two gardens. There is a private rear garden with a patio and lawned area, overlooking the fields and hills of Otterburn. Perfect for a glass of wine watching the sunset. You also have the large lawned garden at the front of the rental (shared with the owner, Kate), which was a total suntrap and perfect for our daughter to run around with a football, whilst we watched the bluetits and occasional woodpecker on the bird feeder! The rental is set on a farm and our daughter enjoyed seeing the resident pigs as well as watching to sheep and lambs in nearby fields. There is a fantastic private woodland area which leads to a shallow stream and we loved putting our wellies on and walking down there after dinner each night for a paddle. I imagine older children would have great fun building dens in there. In the surrounding area, we enjoyed visiting Bellingham. We particularly recommend 'Carriages' tearoom, where you sit in an old train carriage and enjoy really lovely homemade food. Fountains tearoom was a close second.

“Lovely property” We have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay with our 6 year old twin grandchildren. The property was beautifully clean and there was everything we needed. The large garden that the children were able to play in safely was a massive plus for them and us. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. This was the best self catering property that we've stayed in .

“Excellent accommodation” The standard of the accommodation was excellent, very comfortable, en-suite in every room. I had two of my grandchildren with me, there were plenty of games and DVDs for them to play with and watch. The location was perfect and very central for all our trips out. “Lovely cottage in beautiful countryside” Very cosy cottage in lovely countryside. It was exceptionally clean and easy to keep tidy. We were just there for three nights so didn't need to use all the facilities, like the washing machine, dish washer and wood burner, but were very happy and loved the towels and furnishings.

“Delightful stay at The Old Barn” We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Barn. It is absolutely charming and has been beautifully converted and decorated, with lots of quirky features. We had a lovely cream tea on arrival. Everything you might need for your stay has been provided - hair driers etc. We didn't get to use the garden, unfortunately, as the weather wasn't brilliant. Alexander gave us lots of information about places to visit, walks etc. We had a lovely meal at the King William pub which, as Alexander mentioned, has the most amazing view. Would love to stay again.

“Perfect accomodation and space” Spacious, comfortable and well finished. Full to the brim with facilities and just an excellent space to be in. The field/garden/lawn is a perfect space to play games (what we did), relax or just look at. Beds were comfortable, the showers are excellent, and the layout of the converted bar spot on. The open plan downstairs lends itself perfectly for a social outing. The wi-fi is somewhat intermittent, but who needs wi-fi! We all had a brilliant weekend here, and would advise any small group/family to book this place. Should also mention the owner and host were both very easy to work with and communicate with, whilst letting us enjoy out weekend with no fuss. Great place!

“The most perfect cottage, fabulous view, ideal location” This modern, very well equipped base is right in the centre of Bamburgh which has everything you could need for a holiday including pubs, coffee shops, general shops and several options to eat out in the evening. The barn itself is fitted, furnished and equipped to a really high standard, and laid out to make the most of the fantastic view of the castle. The view of the castle from the property really is uninterrupted and at night the castle is lit up. The Castle, the beach and the Grace Darling museum are worth visiting. If you are self catering try the 'Bamburgh Banger' sausages from the village butchers they are really good.

“This cottage is a must for anybody staying in this area.” This cottage is set in a most beautiful location, with stunning views and tranquillity to match.Our weekend away was for a family gathering. The location was ideal; away from the hustle and bustle but not too far to drive to a livelier setting. Our host and hostess were brilliant, taking care of our dog whilst we were out for a day. The accommodation was cleaned to a high standard with cake on our arrival. What more could you ask. Highly recommended. THANKS.
