“Fantastic” We went as a large group for my husbands surprise 60th birthday. The house is lovely with plenty of room for everyone to wander in without feeling over crowded. Lovely touch of a huge celebration balloon, chocolates, champagne and sweets. There were flowers in all rooms which were lovely and made it feel really homely. The bedrooms were decorated lovely and were exceptionally clean with towels, slippers and gowns for all guests. The lounge and sitting area were sooo cosy and had a lovely big wood burner. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for any kind of meal/occasion. Patio area was fantastic which led to the games room annexe which again was excellent for all ages. Garden was stunning with lots of seating areas and of course close to the river which was super. There is also an indoor heated pool which we all had great fun in, it was warm and clean plus lots of inflatables which the children loved. The dining room again was very nice and the furnishings around the room gave that extra special feel although we did feel the dining room table was a wee bit big to enjoy a family meal but we worked around this and still had a lovely meal. Real value for money and somewhere we would all love to visit again.

“The perfect location” We have grandchildren of various ages and we all love it at The Roundhouse. This was our 7th visit and we have booked for next year too. The children love the trampolines and pool, we all love the tennis, the men love the pool table and table tennis. It is perfect for all ages. Sue and John are lovely hosts, always there if needed but there is no interferance. This year we took advantage of the bicycle hire. Fremington Quay is about 11/2 miles and the children can now cycle there. There are plenty of places to eat out or use the take a way from Han Chinese and the house facilities are second to none.

“Outstanding cottage with plenty to entertain the kids.” We received a warm welcome from the owner Sue upon our arrival, complimentary free range eggs, tea, coffee and milk in the fridge for that all important cup of tea after a long journey. Courtyard Cottage was well equipped and had everything you needed. It was very spacious for a 2 bed cottage having an en-suite to each bedroom was a huge plus for us, showers were powerful and plenty of hot water. The facilities were excellent, our first experience of a jet pool and the kids loved it, made good use of the badminton court, table tennis and kids play area. Cycled several times being so close to the Tarka Trail, we took our own bikes but we didn't know Combrew hired them out at a very reasonable rate. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to family and friends we had a brilliant holiday.

“So much to do in one place!” It would be quite possible to stay here without once using a car, as there is so much to do around the farm, and the village only 10 minutes walk away. Fremington Quay was beautiful (don't rely on the bike shop there though, he advertises as open, but wasn't actually there), we swam every day, and enjoyed walks from the farm. But we had to use the car, because I couldn't resist the delights of Exmoor, and the walks on the Hangman Hills. The cottage was so comfortable and beautiful, and all that was missing was a vegetable peeler and something to poke the fire with! We came in February, and I'd like to come back in the summer and make even more of the many outdoor spaces.

“Awesome” Brilliant cottage (or 2 cottages with linking doors). Both with plenty of space and kept very well. There was 12 of us in total including 3 kids aged 3, 1 and 7 months and we all fit in perfectly. During the booking, the owners called me and were very helpful and answered all questions in very quick time, exactly what most want when looking for a holiday. Owners were just next door, which was great for when we needed anything (like to borrow their BBQ) but they were not intruding at all. Tennis court, badminton/volley ball court with lights so we played at night, trampolines, animals, small park, indoor pool with built in jacuzzi and jets, sauna, games room. Couldn't ask for much more, especially for the price. In terms of the area, there is plenty to do for both adults and kids, close to many beaches too, great days out included Exmoor Zoo and Big Sheep and Fremington Quay is a walk away which serves awesomely big scones! A great holiday made complete by a great cottage, facilities and owners. Highly recommended!

“Lovely Cottage” Very comfortable stay in Rose Cottage, spacious and clean. We were met on arrival and shown around. Good amenities on site, so plenty to do when not out and about, and enjoyed feeding the goats every evening. Good location for getting around. The only downside is that although we had a dog friendly cottage, they weren't allowed to toilet in the garden - (which was lovely) even though of course we would clear up after our dog ( as we have done elsewhere).

“Party of 7 (3 bedroom option) - We all love Love LOVED Great Tangley Manor!” The whole process, from booking, arriving, staying and leaving was easy (well as easy as leaving such a lovely house can be!). Nicho kept us well informed and provided all the information we could possibly need during our stay. We can think of nothing they could have done better. Nicho and the owners made us feel very welcome and the tour was very interesting. Maybe this is why we all settled in and felt at home straight away. For a large house it feels surprisingly cosy. There were 3 young children in our party and they found the house fascinating. This presented us with a problem getting them to leave the house for days out and whilst out, there was the constant, 'Are we going back now?' so my advice to parents is make it easy on yourself and don't bother to leave the house! There are so many things to wax lyrical about; the great setting, the fascinating history (especially sitting in the dining room with its panels from the Armada and big window you feel like you are sitting in a ship), the kitchen with the modern glass house and how it doesn't feel at all at odds with the more historic parts, how much fun it was rustling up family dinners in the lovely kitchen, the grandeur yet comfortable ambience of every room. We feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to stay in such a place. We are veterans of the Landmark Trust properties and this just blew them all away. It had all the 21st century comforts yet didn't compromise the historic aspect. The only downside is a week later we are still pining for the Manor.

“Exceeded expectations!” Wonderful place to stay with equally wonderful hosts and food from their daughter. We wanted complete relaxation in beautiful surroundings and that is exactly what we got. My only criticism would be that we weren't allowed to take their adorable dog Bramble home with us!

“wish i could live at the walnut house” it is the best holiday home ive stayed in and wish i lived there. chris and wendy are the best host/owners you could meet, there friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. We left cot covers at home and they went shopping for us so our baby could sleep that night. Chris took us to watch england match in his car. all i can say im looking forward to return just hope not many people fine this place so that i can get in. the place is very clean peaceful but close to all needs. thanks again chris and wendy

“Fantastic weekend” we hired Fletchers Hall to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday, we had a fabulous weekend with some lovely personal touches from the owners. Its was spotlessly clean & had more than enough equipment in the kitchen. The bedrooms were all lovely & the hot tub lots of fun. We would certainly return again.

“Little piece of heaven!” We have visited Bartridge Farm again and again as it is the perfect location and has everything you need for a relaxing, but active family holiday. It is set in a beautiful location with a hot tub looking over a stunning valley. The pool is fantastic and is available whenever you want to use it. On arrival the owners have taken the trouble to unpack the online grocery shopping (including chilling the wine!) and lit the woodburner so from the moment you arrive, you can relax into the holiday. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, offering plenty of advice on beaches, walks and restaurants, however they are not in any way obtrusive. The location is stunning and is within easy reach (driving) of Barnstaple, beaches, lovely walks and we have even visited south devon on day trips - so overall a great base for exploring the whole region. The indoor swimming pool also means when the weather is bad it is easy to entertain the children. We have raved about this place to all our friends. A fantastic holiday all round.
