Eastern Anatolia is the largest and highest region, as well as the least populated. Mount Ararat near the border with Iran is according to legend where Noah’s Ark ran aground. There is also wonderful architecture to be found in this part of the country, travelling around this area is more of a challenge but the unspoilt beauty of the scenery and the welcoming attitude of the people who live here make it a great choice for the more adventurous.
