With breathtaking views to lake and fells, this impressive character property is part of the original rectory to Ambleside's chapel of St. Anne. But the interesting history doesn't stop there; listed on the deeds is the famous romantic poet William Wordsworth. He must have fallen for the views just as we did. Parson's View offers very spacious and elegant accommodation, enhanced by a meticulous 2009 refurbishment. Sociable gatherings of any kind will settle right in, with ample living space and very generous bedrooms. Two couples might find this a romantic retreat, while families or friends can make use of the charming vaulted twin bedroom. All this and only a stroll to the centre of Ambleside, and the shores of Lake Windermere. Accommodation in detail Private parking for 2 cars. Entrance porch and hallway with utility / cloakroom, 3rd WC and access to the garden and patios. A grand Victorian staircase leads to the main accommodation. Large living room with splayed bay window, luxury leather sofas, woodburning stove and formal dining area. Separate designer kitchen. On this level are 2 king-size bedrooms (1 en-suite), with different but fabulous views. The main house bathroom is accessed via the landing. A short staircase leads to the vaulted twin bedroom, with games area. Location This Ambleside holiday home with lake views lies only a short stroll from the popular village centre, and the northern shores of Lake Windermere. Ambleside is perhaps the most sophisticated village in the Lake District, with a charming historic atmosphere but a wide range of contemporary shops and high quality restaurants and cafes. It's a very pleasant place to while away a day, and certainly a foodie's dream! At Waterhead Pier, just outside the village centre, Windermere Lake Cruises depart throughout the day and provide a car-free route to both Bowness and Lakeside. Exploring by car is also a breeze; Ambleside lies on the A590 which is famously scenic and forms the main route into the heart of the Lakes. Drive south to the stunning Troutbeck Valley, Windermere and Bowness, or north past Rydal Water to Grasmere. You might like to visit two of William Wordsworth's other former homes during your stay. Rydal Mount & Gardens is just outside Ambleside, and Dove Cottage (part of the Wordsworth Museum) is found a short drive away in Grasmere.  …see more

With wonderful panoramic lake views from living room and balcony, and a lovely leafy outlook from every other room, this super self-catering property in central Bowness makes a peaceful, perfect retreat for couples, families or friends. The accommodation is stylish and superbly arranged for sociable gatherings; relax on sumptuous sofas in the living room, admiring the view through a wall of glass to the balcony. Entertain in style, with a superbly equipped kitchen, dining space, furnished balcony and sunny garden equipped for fabulous BBQs. Rest-up in Laura Ashley-styled double bedrooms, and let the kids entertain themselves in a cosy bunk room stocked with books and games. Perfect! The owners regret that this property can not accommodate children under 5 years old. Accommodation in detail Private parking for 3 cars. External steps lead to the first floor entrance hall and cloaks cupboard. On this level are the 2 double bedrooms (one king-size), compact bunk room with 2'6" beds, (more suitable for children), TV, books and games, and newly installed house bathroom. Upstairs to the spacious open plan living area, with relaxed Laura Ashley furnishings, laminate flooring and full-width scenic balcony. The dining area is adjacent to the cream Shaker-style kitchen. Sunny south-facing garden, equipped with BBQ, furniture and sun loungers. Location This superb Bowness self-catering property is perfectly placed for a varied Lake District holiday. Soak up the views from the comfort of home, relax in a secluded and sunny garden, but enjoy the convenience of shops, restaurants, bars and boating activities all only a stroll away. On the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Bowness is a bustling tourist destination with a character all of its own. Contemporary shopping streets lead down to Bowness Bay, where hire boats come and go, and Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside. There's lots to see in both these areas, and they can be explored without even taking your car. Lake District bus tours also depart regularly from Bowness village, but if you'd prefer to explore by car you'll find that driving is scenic in every direction. A couple of miles away, the A591 leads right into the heart of the Lakes, taking in Ambleside, historic Grasmere, and branching off to breathtaking locations such as the Langdale Valley - many famous Lake District walking routes are within easy reach. Family attractions in Bowness include the World of Beatrix Potter, right in the village centre. This famous children's author lived just on the other side of Lake Windermere, in the sleepy hamlet of Near Sawrey. Her home is open to the public and can be reached easily via the car ferry crossing from Bowness. Windermere Golf Club is just outside Bowness, on the way into the scenic Lyth Valley. The lush green landscapes are a delight to explore, with many walking routes and a wealth of renowned Lake District gastropubs. Well worth a try!  …see more
