Costa de Prata has many historical places of interest combining mountainous landscapes with ocean views, sandy beaches and a myriad of rivers. Places of interest include Coimbra which is the 'Oxford' of Portugal, plenty of Golf clubs, the thermal spas of Luso, Roman ruins, Neoclassical towns, Fatima (Portugal's answer to Lourdes) and the Bucaco Imperial Palace. The resort of Figueira da Foz is famous for its surfing, world beach football tournament and casino, while Tomar boasts a large Knights Templar castle and is worth a visit. The region is pleasantly rural and famous for its traditional cuisine including dishes such as 'Leitao' suckling pig and 'Bacalho' salted cod.
