“Everything we wanted” We have just returned from an extended stay at this lovely property. It is extremely homely and is so well equipped that there really wasn't anything that we wanted for. We have been to Collioure several times before, but on those occasions, as it was just my husband and I, we stayed in small apartments or cottages in the town centre. However on this occasion we were going to be staying for several weeks, we wanted to bring our dog with us, and we wanted a variety of family and friends to be able to come and stay at different times during our stay. This property met our needs perfectly. The pool is a good size and has lots of space around it for lounging in the sun. Speaking of which, the sun loungers are some of the most comfortable we've ever used. Very easy to rest back and drift off to sleep in the warm Collioure sunshine... although they don't lend themselves to sunbathing on your front. The large, open kitchen/ dining/ lounge area is a delight with 3 sets of large french doors opening out onto the huge balcony area. The kitchen itself is extremely well equipped. There is generally a lovely homely feel to the whole place, and it's very obvious that the owners use their holiday property a great deal for themselves. The rather low beds initially looked as though they were going to be hard and uncomfortable, but in fact they were the opposite - we found the mattresses very comfortable indeed. Having three double rooms and one twin room worked brilliantly for the variety of guests who came to stay at different times, and with a variety of places to sit outside (by the pool, in the garden, on the balcony) there was always enough space for people to escape if they wanted some peace. An unusual bonus was the extremely large and very useful utility room, which in many other properties would not be made available to guests. This was a perfect place for storing suitcases, hanging washing to dry on damp days (yes there were some!), storing dog food etc. The only slight disadvantage is the distance to the town centre. It's not far really (a 15 minute stroll), but we have been used to staying right in the centre of everything! Coming back is a bit of a slog up hill. But it's worth it for the space and the wonderful views from the balcony/ terrace. You'd be very hard pushed to find a property of this size and quality any closer to town. We had a variety of ages staying at different times, including teenagers, and everyone loved it. It was ideal for the dog, too - although be aware that none of the nearby beaches allow dogs at all. However there is a beautiful cliff-top path in Collioure which is perfect for exercising dogs and has no restrictions (although beware of/ avoid one or two spots where there is a steep drop). NB the pool is unheated, but towards the end of our stay (early June) it was reaching a really nice temperature, if still a little refreshing! On top of all this, our dealings with the owner, Eugene, were extremely positive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visits from Jim, who looks after the pool. To sum up, Eugene, thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home from home. All of us had a wonderful stay.
