14 steps lead up to the main entrance gate and an alleyway leads through a luxurious garden among tall pine trees and cypress trees. From here, 21 steps take you up to the main terrace, in front of the villa. Right in front of the house is the Italian style garden with flower beds planted with white roses and oleander trees. Villa Lennox came into its current owner's family in the late 19th century and its owners' elegance and exclusivity makes it the most desirably rented property on the island of Capri. It is very large for an island villa. Cool marble and old hand-made tiles on the floors, vaulted ceilings, antique furniture, and private balconies give the interiors of the villa a timeless feel. Externally, the villas architecture has clean lines, with the old round shaped vaults painted white throughout - in a typical Caprese style. It's garden is divided onto 3 levels, the top level, after walking through a small lemon grove, hides its large pool deck (12m x 1.80m). The garden: The garden, which spreads all around the house, continues up a hill, covering an area of 7 hectares, encompassing the entrance driveway which was formed from an ancient Roman chariot path. The landscape of this magic garden was created in 1894 and is characterized by shady pine trees, roses, grape vines, olive terraces, columns, and even a neo-Greek temple. It's the largest garden on the Island of Capri and has a spectacularly Italian layout in a Rinascimento style. A true ruin, a Napoleonic fort, is located at the top. A path of approximately 100 steps along a walk leading by a fountain, leads up to the hill of Mount San Michele, to the very top of the mountain, which boats a 360 degree panorama of the much varied landscapes of the entire island, offering glorious views towards the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The walk to the top of the mountain slope is constantly full of surprising angles and places. On top of the hill you will find a florid lemon garden. In the middle of the 18th century, when the villa was owned by an English aristocratic family, a small temple in neoclassical style was built on one of the properties' most panoramic spots and became a place where its owners would come to drink afternoon tea under the shade of the pine trees. Copies of the bronze statues found in the Ruins of Pompeii mixing with the lush green and grey stone of the mountain and the perfumes of the greenery lie here helping make it a true dreamland. Returning down towards the house you will pass the large deposits with vaulted ceilings, which built by the Romans. At the time of Emperor Augustus and Tiberius, these deposits were large water cisterns, bringing water to the entire island (including Emperor Augustus' private luxury residence, called Villa Jovis). Now they remain as decor and storage rooms, where wine and olive oil is preserved. Pool area: 21 steps lead from the villa up along the garden to a wonderful florid lemon pergola, lined by white columns. The path takes you to the terrace where a large irregular shaped pool (12 meters x 5 meters x 1.80 meters deep), is located. The pool is surrounded by palm and pine trees and large potted cactus and is lined by a stone wall covered with violet Bougainvillea. There is an outdoor shower and small changing room. The terrace is equipped with sun lounge chairs and enjoys views of the hillside of Mount San Michele. Ground floor: A large marble terrace, with steps descending down towards the garden, furnished with a table and chairs for outdoor dining lies in front of the house. The main entrance door leads into the living and dining area, welcomed by two small Roman statues, which is divided into two different rooms by 4 steps. Both rooms are furnished with pieces of antique wooden furniture and day beds, many of which date back to the 18th century. Both enjoy colorful textiles, antique mirrors, prints and painting all standing in contrast with the white washed walls. The entire floor has spacious rooms with high ceilings. The dining room, furnished with a library, has a large round wooden table, 6 chairs, and windows giving onto the garden. There is a large living room with parquet floor and oriental carpets furnished with several different sitting areas, each comforted with sofas and armchairs, large mirrors and paintings hanging on the walls and an antique fireplace. 2 French doors lead out onto a terrace. A large, well equipped kitchen built with white tiles boasts a marble topped dining table for 4, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, 6 range stovetop, 2 ovens, 2 sinks, and a working wood oven. 1 step down leads into a separate laundry room where a washing machine, sink and, ironing facilities abound. The kitchen has window and a door leading out behind of the house. There is also a 1/2 bathroom on the ground floor. First floor: A marble staircase of 20 steps leads up to the first floor where 5 spacious bedrooms and 3 bathrooms are located. The first is a large double bedroom with a double bed and French doors leading out onto the terrace looking out onto the garden. The bedroom is furnished with bedside tables, 2 lamps, antique wooden furniture, 2 armchairs, a wooden writing desk with lamp and mirror, and a wooden closet. A green tiled bathroom with bathtub, shower box with glass door, marble topped desk, and sink is situated in front. The second bedroom enjoys a romantic golden wooden headboard shaped like a sea shell with French doors leading out onto the terrace overlooking the garden. The bedrooms is spacious with a glass topped table, writing desk and chair, armchair, and closet. The 3rd bedroom is a beautiful and large master bedroom with wooden baldachin bed, parquet floors, bedside tables, antique fireplace, dresser, chairs, a chaise lounge and large closet. 2 French doors lead out onto a private terrace overlooking the garden. The bedroom enjoys a blue tiled en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower box and marble sink. The fourth bedroom boasts twin beds and a small closet and the fifth bedroom has a double bed and small closet. Both bedrooms have French doors leading out onto the terrace overlooking the garden. There is also a third, blue tiled bathroom with bathtub and shower. Space: Villa Lennox is set in a prestigious and central location. This lovely and unique property is located only a 10-minute walk from the Piazzetta (main square) and the centre of Capri. Fantastic, panoramic views over the entire town and the Bay of Marina Piccola can be enjoyed from its gardens. The property boasts water cisterns from the period dating back to Emperors Augustus and Tiberius. Staff: Maid service: The caretaker and the gardener are residents in the house. Maid and a cook available on request. Final cleaning is included in the rental rate. 3 hours of daily maid service included in the rental rate Extra hours of maid service cost Euro 25 an hour. Overlooking Capri’s famous Faraglioni rocks, the views from Il Tramonto’s private stone terrace rival any on the Amalfi Coast. Located on the eastern coast of Capri, this four-bedroom property is directly above the pebbled shores and clear water of Marina Piccola beach. Il Tramonto’s amenities are designed to take full advantage of Capri’s enviable climate, with an outdoor kitchen, bar, and lounge area – all with panoramic sea views. A staircase with 35 steps leads down from the villa’s main gate to the swimming pool, framed by sun loungers. Early risers will love this villa - thanks to its eastern vantage point, the terrace is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. This recently restored property features two separate homes, with two bedrooms in each house. Inspired by the colors of Capri, the homes are decorated in white and blue with lemon yellow accents. Both the main villa and the guest villa are kept to a high standard, however the main villa is slightly more luxurious, with additional amenities. All of the rooms benefit from beautiful sea views, and each of the four bedrooms has a private en-suite bathroom with either a bath or a shower. One of the bedrooms in the main villa has its own private terrace. Four hours of daily maid service is included to keep the rooms looking their best, and complimentary breakfast provides the perfect start to the day. Unlike many homes in Capri which can only be reached on foot, Il Tramonto is conveniently accessible by taxi, and the local bus stops just outside villa’s gate. For beach lovers, the villa is a short, if steep, walk from Marina Piccola beach, with a bar, restaurant, and sun lounger rentals available onsite. Capri’s town center is a 15 minute walk or five minute drive from the villa. Copyright (c) Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. This property, situated waterfront on the Island of Capri, stands out for its unique history, location, and interior decor. Villa Le Camelia lays seaside right above the shoreline, immersed in a vast area of gardens and terraces. The property is built above the former Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus Palace by the Sea. Some of the original villas remains can still be seen on parts of the property. From the terrace of the property, ones eyes are captured by a superb view out on to the Peninsula of Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius, and the Bay of Naples. The entire plane of Capri, with the port of Marina Grande, Villa Lysis, and townhouses can be seen from the gardens. On the opposite side of the property, the view expands towards the hillside of Monte Solaro and the bright white Fenicia stairs of Villa San Michele, just where Anacapri Village begins. The Villa Le Camelia complex consists of two connecting buildings extending over two floors. The first area, referred to as The Landlords Residence, blends naturally into the Saloni al Mare, or Lounges on the Sea, consisting of large, common areas where guests can unite. Wide lounges with marble floors, vaulted ceilings, antique crystal lamps, important pieces of antique furniture and renowned works of art reflect the owner's sophisticated taste as a true art lover and expert. Located right above the exclusive beach area of Marina Piccola on the Eastern coast of the island, this lovely property was built in 1903 by the infamous Italian architect from Milan, Gallozzi, in the times when Capri was governed by the North of Italy and the majority of its directives came straight from Milan. Gallozzi chose the villa’s position and building structure according to his personal tastes. He decided to build the villa in a strategic and comfortable position, taking advantage of the second-to-none view out over the Mediterranean and the world famous Faraglioni rocks, between the sea and the main square of Capri. He built this masterpiece from nothing, as no building structure had existed here before the construction of La Poeta. Almost every piece of furniture on the grounds are antique, with several of the pieces engraved from the 18th and 19th centuries, and much of the pavement is 18th century ceramic or marble tile . As time passed, this property became a refuge for 20th century writers, directors, and artists, as numerous Royal parties took place on its grounds. Those familiar with Capri will know that this beautiful island is not an easy one to get around; few properties are easily reached without the trials of steep slopes and endless steps. Some are only accessible on foot. La Poeta is blessed with many privileges and comforts on this account. The villa is easily accessible both on foot (by crossing the famous little piazza, full of colourful Mediterranean flowers and plants), or by car (there is a car park on the villa’s grounds). Its fabulous position right by the Bay of Marina Piccola (whose beach offers umbrella and sun lounge rentals) allows it to offer one of the best terraces on the whole island of Capri and enjoy the sunrise each morning. This luxury villa rental in Capri was constructed in 1903 and was called The Retreat because it was the first house built in this area above the Marina Piccola. This stunning seaview Villa stands mid way between the main piazza and the marina Piccola and is approx 15 minutes from each or 5 by car. One of the pluses of this property is that one can access it directly by car, or if wishing the exercise, by foot via the meandering stairways connecting all of the islands properties and roads. The Retreat boasts a very extensive property of planted terraces, all with views over the sea and the Faraglioni. The Architect who built this extraordinary Villa, decided to build the villa in a strategic and comfortable position, taking advantage of the second-to-none view out over the Mediterranean and the world famous Faraglioni rocks, between the sea and the main square of Capri. He built this masterpiece from nothing, as no building structure had existed here before the construction of The Retreat. The Retreat is blessed with many privileges and comforts on this account. This amazing villa, built during the second half of the 18th Century on the remains of an Anglo-English fort, was initially inhabited by an infamous Hungarian painter, who built the property on top of the ruins of a Roman Palace. Subsequently, the property was bought by a famous French painter who hosted many renowned musicians and composers in his home. According to legend, the composer Bizet, while vacationing here, remained so inspired by the sounds of the sea that he composed one of his most famous pieces of work, the Opera Carmen. The property then passed to a famous foreign Countess, Mona Strader Bismarck, in the mid 20th Century. The Garden, Boat Pier, & Private Sea Access: The entrance to the villa leads, on one side, directly into the immaculate, private garden.
