Fabulous house in a wonderful setting!

The narrow roads are a bit of a shock when approaching the property for the first time but don't worry you will quickly get used to them. A car and/or the services of a local taxi is essential the property in set at the edge of a village with a shop, church and cafe. We had a car and used the taxi of Sergio Jacomo (+351 963 119 543) He can speak English and was really reliable and friendly. We were greeted at the property by the owner Francisco and his son in law Miguel. They are lovely people who really want to help you have a good holiday. Miguel speaks good English and gave us his mobile number so that we could contact him at any time. He always responded really quickly. He arranged the taxi for us the first time and when we did have a bit of a crisis he drove with Francisco after his work in the evening to make sure that we were OK and made us feel very well cared for. He even rang the following day to make sure that things were alright. The property is amazing. It is very spacious inside and out. We were there with 2 teenagers and had plenty of space but you could take grandparents with your children or 2 couples with children and have plenty of room. Wifi is good which was a relief with teenagers in tow! The house has everything you can think of and plenty of it. You won't need to take towels or bedding. There are plates, bowls and glasses for every occasion. The washing machine is housed outside and works really well. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and have showers. In addition to the inside kitchen there is a lovely outside BBQ/ food preparation area with another fridge freezer and stone sink with running water. We made use of this for most of the meals we had at the house. There isn't a lot near the house apart from the peace and quiet of the mountains so as I mentioned, you will need transport. In the village shop you can get white bread, eggs and a few other essentials. There is a cafe and a church. Caminha is about 10 minutes away. It has a supermarket on the way and one there. Market day is Wednesday but you can also buy fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetable in the local shops daily. There are a range of bars and restaurants. Coffee/beer in the square is a must. There seem to be a number of festivals through the season which brings entertainment to the town. We went to a local beach which was lovely. The Atlantic has some good waves so there are plenty of surfing opportunities and surf schools nearby. The ferry runs to Spain through the day (apart from Monday). It takes 10 minutes and you can take your car. We went to Baiona on two occasions and had two fabulous meals on each occasion. The drive following the coast is beautiful.
