"First-rate in all respects"

We have rented 4 cottages in this area, and Green Cottage is the best. Comfortable, quiet, well equipped, and with ample room for two (and two more if required), it is the perfect venue for visiting t… More

We really appreciate your review, especially in light of the previous negative review. ou paint a much better picture of the cottage and we appreciate it. We did buy a valence for the bed upstairs to hide the rug and suitcase underneath and so feedback can always be valuable. It is the feeling of the owners and ourselves that a drawer such as the one in the kitchen, is full of useful items, thanks for pointing that out. The garden is attended to weekly and as you suggest, it is a lovely private and peaceful garden. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We hope to hear from you again in the future!

"Beautiful area, cottage a bit "tired"!"

Broad Campden & Chipping Campden are beautiful villages in the wonderful Cotswolds but Green Cottage was disappointing. Downstairs is dark & dusty with quite old appliances - the oven didn't work with… More

I'm sorry you were disappointed with Green Cottage but please allow me to go through your points. It is important to us that guests are happy and I do not believe the picture you paint is entirely accurate. For each enquiry, we send out details explaining what is included in the price - initial supplies of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, kitchen roll x 1, dishwasher and washing machine tablets (enough for your stay), linen, towels and toilet rolls - we leave one toilet roll on the holder and one spare. We do not say there is soap or shampoo but they are provided and would usually be left on the towels. We would have happily dropped some around to you (along with bin bags) but we do rely on guests letting us know immediately if something has been missed or if there are any problems at all. The cakes we leave are freshly made, not shop bought and we believe these are welcomed over a bottle of wine. The cooker does not require the timer to be set but we do have guests at some cottages who press buttons thinking they're turning the oven on. You informed us of the issue and we popped out immediately to sort this out so the oven was working within an hour of you making contact. I am sorry the fridge had been turned off by our previous guests who left the same day as you arrived. We would expect to notice this. It would still have been cold when we cleaned it before you arrived and I can only think this is why we hadn't realised - apologies for this though. There are two drawers in the kitchen which house various essentials. You are correct in saying they are 'untidy' but they are not full of junk. There are various batteries and screwdrivers, spare light bulbs and many more things which guests should find useful. We will take another look to see if these items can be contained better. The shower head was not mentioned to us at all during your stay and we have not replaced it at all since you stayed over 12 weeks ago. No other guests have mentioned it either and so I am not sure what happened here. The boiler was serviced on 15th December when the owners stayed and so the shower shouldn't have been temperamental in any way. If you had mentioned this during your stay, we could have called somebody out to take a look but if we are not told, it is impossible for us to do anything. There is nothing which we can do about the size of the room but again, we have not received any other comments regarding the room being too small and we do not claim in the description of the cottage that the shower room is large. When guests enquire about a cottage, I answer all questions accurately and honestly. The fact that there is a shower and no bath, should suggest that the room is not large enough for a bath but I appreciate not everybody will assume this is the case. We have made note of the items being in view under the bed and we will buy a valence or something to hide the items / view which you can see as you climb the stairs to the bedroom. The items belong to the owners who live abroad and they have to be stored here due to there being no loft space. The items are regularly taken out and the bed cleaned underneath but it is not cluttered and the duvets/pillows are not loose and are not covered in dust. There is room under the bed for guests to put suitcases etc. The lack of power points is typical of an old building but there is a mirror on the dressing table which can be moved next to the bed if needed. Downstairs there are wall lights and lamps. We are restricted on the strength of bulbs which the lamps allow but we have not received any other comments on the sitting room being dark. There is one window in the sitting room and a glass door between this room and the entrance hall which also allows natural light in. If the kitchen door is closed, it does make the sitting room darker as light from the bright kitchen is restricted. The cottage is a period cottage with Cotswold stone walls exposed in some areas of the sitting room. We vacuum the walls as we do the whole of the cottage but period cottages can be dusty - some more so than others. This is not an excuse or due to poor housekeeping - cottages are cleaned between every booking - some cottages are naturally dustier than others. I hope my response is adequate. I urge any guests to contact the agent / owner during their stay if they are not happy with any aspects of a cottage, so that issues can be sorted out immediately. It is in everybody's interest so that 'we' get things right, and guests are happy with their cottage :0)
