“Beautiful Property” We booked the property fairly late looking for a base for both family and friends to get away for a week's break. The property was delightful. Wooden beams were everywhere and the doors and upstairs floorboards gave the property that real country cottage feel. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and spacious and there was an extremely useful utility room which was large enough for all our walking and biking gear. The living room was very comfortable and the dining room big enough for all seven of us to enjoy evening meals together. The four upstairs bedrooms were excellent. The main bedroom had its own bathroom and the other three bedrooms shared a lovely bathroom with a great shower and wonderfully large bath. The second double bedroom was spacious with lots of storage space and the two twin bedrooms were ideal for teenage children. The location of the property could not have been better. Fantastic walks were possible from the doorstep and there was the added bonus of three pubs serving good food and real ales within walking distance. There was something for everyone to do. Two of us enjoyed the endless walking possibilities. Our friends were able to potter around with their young baby and enjoy the railway in the Eskdale Valley and the two teenage children either joined us for walking or cycling or just enjoyed the full Sky tv package and internet access! I would thoroughly recommend the property to friends. Greg at Select Cottages could not have been more helpful and the staff on site were charming and helpful. We are looking forward to our next visit!

“Cosy cottage in a brilliant location” We stayed at Whillan Beck between Christmas 2010 and New Year (we had stayed at Bridge End Farmhouse next door some years ago so knew it would be good). We had a great time. The cottage is small but perfectly formed for two people and was cosy and welcoming despite the subzero temperatures outside! It had everything we needed, was well looked after and clean. There is also a laundry room in a nearby outbuilding which is handy after those mountain walks. The views up onto the fells are lovely and you can also hear the sound of the small Beck running which is relaxing. Boot itself is a tiny hamlet but is well served by 2/3 pubs within easy walking distance. The location is ideal for those wishing to explore the outdoors and there is excellent walking straight out from the cottage and onto the Fells and over to Wastwater, up Hardknott pass to Hardknott fort or to Eskdale Green. We will definitely go back again.

“Excellent accommodation in beautiful surroundings” We had a very pleasant week in the beautiful surroundings of Eskdale. The cottage was comfortable with all that we needed and full of rustic charm. We particularly liked the exposed beams and internal stonework. We were able to do a number of challenging and interesting walks from the doorstep of the cottage, which also had its own well maintained attractive gardens for relaxing in. The staff were welcoming and helpful and all in all we had an excellent holiday at Stanley Ghyll Cottage.

Gillbank Eskdale Holiday Cottage in the heart of the Western Lakes of Cumbria
Fantastic well equipped cottage

We hired this cottage for a weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage was clean and really comfortable. The beds were lovely. The bathrooms were great. The kitchen well equipped - it really was impressive. One warning for anyone booking is that some of the track (about 100m) to the cottage was quite bumpy. Thank you for an amazing weekend.see more
Wrynose Cottage - spacious & stylish one bedroom cottage in a stunning location
Idylic retreat in the Western Lakes

Having stayed in Wrynose Cottage 6 months earlier we decided to book for a longer stay this time. Greg, the Manager contacted us personally following our on-line booking to make sure our requests were catered for(our 3 year old son stayed with us). The cottage is perfectly situated within the farm complex at the end of the road in the hamlet of Boot, 2 good pubs are within 5 minutes walk and there is a small shop in Boot. The cottage was presented to an excellent standard with a new bathroom and had everything we needed for our stay, the parking is compact but OK as there are allocated spaces for each cottage. We particularly like the Eskdale Valley for hiking with our son and visiting the local attractions such as the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Muncaster Castle. A drive over the Wrynose Pass and Hardknott Pass is a must during the stay!see more
Wastwater Cottage - spacious, historic cottage in the heart of the Lake District
Couldn't have chosen a better location and accommodation for our stay in the Lake District

We rented this cottage at a time when Cumbria was experiencing the worst floods so we were concerned but received reassurance and carried on with our plans. We are extremely glad we did not miss the opportunity to experience the charming atmosphere of the spacious cottage and the beauty of Eskdale area. We traveled with two small children and grandparents to spend Christmas holidays in the Lake District and we found it very easy to reach points of interest and find activities for all of us. Attractions are very close: the Hardknott Pass, Eskdale Rail, all kinds of walks and even a historic Mill and Church. We even discovered a beautiful waterfall a short and medium walk away. The rain did not hamper our adventures. We were able to drive to Windermere, Grassmere and Keswick and the distances were just right with two restless children. We all enjoyed the Safari Zoo, some sea side towns, mountains and lots of water. In fact, we thought the wet weather made it all more beautiful. The cottage was well supplied, clean and conveniently located in a walking distance to two great pubs but remote, at the same time. We got more than we hoped for.see more
Bridge End Farmhouse - fabulous 5 star farmhouse in the heart of the Lakes!
Great location, great accomodation

We stayed with Select Cottages in Brittany back in spring and were so pleased with the cottage and Greg’s help while booking that we decided to stay at one of The Lakes cottages in late summer. We were three couples, one with two small children and we found there was plenty of space for all of us and plenty to do. It was great to have the outdoor area for the children in the morning and evening so they could run around while meals were prepared. With a few peaks still to walk in the area I can see this becoming a regular jaunt.see more
Hardknott Cottage - Romantic one bedroom cottage in the heart of the Lakes
Beautiful cottage

Hardknott cottage is a superb cottage with a great comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom. The cottage was very warm and lacked for nothing. The location of Boot is stunning with easy access to the fells and within an easy stroll to two excellent pubs. I would unreservedly recommend the cottage and the location.see more
Scafell Cottage - stunning Four Star Gold spacious cottage in the Lake District
Bridge End Farm, Holiday Cottages, Boot; inthe ESk Valley.

We rented Wrynose Cottage sleeping 2 in the summer and Scafell Cottage sleeping 8; later in the autumn. Bridge End Farm holiday cottages are nestled in the Esk Valley at Boot; every cottage is fully equipped to cater for a comfortable stay at any time in the holiday season. There are cottages that sleeps 10 people and everything is in place and offers as much space needed' there are also beautiful cottages for 2 that gives couples privacy and seclusion. All the cottages are beautifully cared for by the housekeeper Amy and Bob the caretaker/manager locally based to help guests during their stay, his knowledge is insurmountable and Greg the owner, who we met during our last stay, works tirelessly to ensure you have a memorable stay. Everything at Bride End is there to people a wonderful time and a holiday to remember long after you return home. We look forward to returning later on this year. Moira & Richard Oldhamsee more
