The Algarve is well known for its villas, golf courses and also for the many attractive fishing villages - and hence, of course, for the seafood, which is delicious. The Atlantic location means although very hot in June, July and August, the heat is not overpowering. The climate remains warm in Spring and Autumn, and over winter you get warm days, but the nights are noticably cooler. The attractive town of Lagos, the third largest in the Algarve, offers narrow cobbled streets, a modern marina, colourful open air and covered markets, lively bars and restaurants serving both local and international cuisine, as well as shops of every description. Praia da Luz is a lovely family resort with a long sandy beach backed by a lovely tree lined prom, great for an afternoon stroll and a drink at a beach bar. Albufeira is a bustling town, yet still manages to retain much of the original charm and character of its fishing village history. You can explore the Old Town with its maze of narrow white cobbled streets, home to a vast array of shops, bars and restaurants serving traditional and cosmopolitan fare.
