Art, nature and relax in the green heart of Italy
Between the rivers Tiber and Nera there lies an Umbrian countryside area, unknown to most tourists: the Comprensorio Amerino or Surroundings of Amelia, the ancient medieval town famous for the limestone polygonal walls (3rd cent. BC) and the different churches. It is a fascinating place, crossed by old Roman roads and very rich in both nature and culture.
In the heart of this beautiful landscape, between Amelia and Porchiano del Monte, you find Podere Agrituristico Luchiano, a typical Umbrian farmhouse of the 17th century, situated at 450 m.asl and surrounded by the garden and the 4ha olive-grove. The house has been recently restored and transformed into a comfortable country-house with three independent apartments of different sizes (from 2 to 6 persons), equipped with all comforts and ancient furniture.
Being surrounded by the green, it is the perfect place for relaxing and tasting genuine local products, such as the extra virgin olive oil, the red wine, the flower honey and the green table olives in brine, as well as fruit jams, fruits, vegetables, all produced at the farm. Chickens, geese, dogs and cats will welcome you, as well.
Guests will enjoy the splendid view over the surrounding hills and valleys, the garden with its trees, the old threshing-floor built with hand-made bricks (the only one in the Umbrian territory!), the four hectare olive grove and the wood of oaks and holm-oaks. In the private garden in front of the apartments guests will find tables with chairs for their lunch and dinner.
The private swimming pool (6 x 12 m) offers a beautiful panoramic view over the nearby hills and valleys. There are barbecue facilities, an outdoor wood oven and mountain-bikes available for guests.
A large living room of 130 Sq m -the sala- with characteristic 17th century arches, is on request open to the guests of Podere Luchiano. The room has a nice fireplace, a small kitchen and a simple bathroom. The room is also used as a conference hall (15-20 persons) al well as for dinners and private parties (max. 70 persons).
Podere Luchiano is ideally situated for touring the area being close to a wealth of touristic attractions such as Todi, Orvieto, Narni and within easy reach, by road (1 hour) or rail (1 and a half hour), of Rome, Perugia and Assisi, the town of St. Francis.
