Changes made for COVID-19

We want you to feel confident in coming to stay here while Covid-19 is still a threat, so please read on to find out more about how we’re making sure that you will be as safe as possible during your stay.

The surrounding area of the Peak District is of course well supplied with open spaces in beautiful countryside, which we hope you will enjoy safely and confidently!

At the moment, we can only take bookings for groups of guests from one or two households or social ‘bubbles’. Please also take account of government guidance that separate households should keep social distancing within the house while staying.

The cottage has independent access from the road – you won’t be sharing an entry point at the front of the house with anyone else. The walled back garden behind the house encloses distinct spaces for our cottage and our next-door neighbours, with shared access to the back gate. Refuse bins may be used by residents in both houses.

Please ensure that any time that you re-enter the house all members of your group wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water – for a minimum of 20 seconds. This is recognised as one of the best ways of combatting coronavirus.

We hope you'll find it reassuring that the house will not have been used in the last 3 days (72 hours) before your arrival. This means that, according to current scientific views, the risk of active virus remaining anywhere in the property is minimal. This includes on books, maps, leaflets, games, etc. (Leaflets and games are inside a cupboard in the dining room, but do bring your own games if you’d rather not use ours). It also covers all items in the kitchen cupboards, which will not have been touched between guests. Finally, it includes the external benches and table.

Our cleaner will have cleaned and disinfected the property thoroughly before you arrive, using approved materials and following agreed guidelines.

To help you to keep the house clean during your stay, you will find materials under the kitchen sink to use as appropriate. This includes dishwashing and laundry supplies; bags for the general waste and food bins and black tie-handle bags for the bedding and towels (see note below); a small hand sanitiser bottle; anti-bacterial wipes; and some disposable gloves. These last three are only meant as a supplement to what you are carrying yourselves – please leave them behind when you leave.

When you leave, please can you remove all the linen from your beds, including mattress protectors and pillow protectors. Please turn them inside-out and place the linen and all towels in large black tie-handle bin bags (under the sink), tie the handles and leave in the kitchen. We understand that this may not be what you are used to (it isn’t our normal practice) but it is in line with government guidance to protect cleaners in self-catering accommodation, and we appreciate your help with this.

If one of your group begin to show any symptoms of coronavirus, please contact us immediately. Government advice is that anyone taken ill with suspected Covid-19 should return home to self-isolate. That person then needs to self-isolate for 7 days, and members of your group for 14 days from the onset of the person’s symptoms. You will also need to order a coronavirus test.

We will be asking all guests to provide contact information for ‘track and trace’ purposes should that be needed. We will not use this information for any other purpose, and will delete it after 6 months if it has not been required.
